Oh Houston!

Happy Thursday friends! Things have been busy around here! Tuesday morning I woke up early to pack and catch the Amtrak bus to ride to Houston to see Andrew. It was only about 2 weeks since we had seen each other, but felt like so much longer than that. We didn't do a whole lot Tuesday night, we had a lovely dinner and played Bananagrams, which I had never played but I love it!

Yesterday it rained ALL DAY LONG. Several roads were flooded and we had to turn around a couple of times. We finally went to see the 7th Harry Potter movie. Why I waited so long to see it I have no idea. I'm a die hard fan. The movie was fantastic, and I can't wait for the second part to come out. One of the bittersweet pieces in the 7th book is the dedication which says "spilt seven ways...[lists several names], and to you, if you have stuck with Harry until the end". Love it. I'm gonna read the books all over again as soon as I have the time. After the movie, we went shopping with Andrew's sister Alissa. She was on the hunt for a cute New Year's Eve dress for a church party. And we found something! I love shopping sometimes, but Andrew was miserable. I had a terrible headache after we finished shopping and took about an hour nap. I woke up and we watched a movie on Alissa's laptop and then celebrated Christmas after Austin and Andrew's mom got home from a basketball tourney. I love what they got me! Later Austin's girlfriend Audrey came over and we played Taboo, Bananagrams, and Battle of the Sexes. And Audrey and I won that last game!

Today has been rather quiet around the Tucker household. The Beast ('88 suburban) will be picked up tomorrow by a towing/wrecking company and the boys are cleaning it out. So sad. Love those older vehicles. Andrew's mom and I were working on their New Year's card (its too late for a Christmas card haha) and just picked out the design and picture. Tomorrow Andrew and I are going back to Longview for New Year's. I can't believe that another year is about to begin, this one has certainly flown by. I haven't quite started thinking about my resolutions, but I'm sure you will see a post about it in the near future.

Birthdays and Christmas

Hello, dear friends! I hope y'all had a fabulous Christmas...I know I did! Dad and Megan both had wonderful birthdays despite it being so close to Christmas, Dad always likes to say that Megan was his Christmas & birthday present. Pretty sweet if you ask me :) the trip to Dallas on Megan's birthday wasn't quite as fun as I thought it would be, but we still had a good time.

In the last week, I've laughed so much and it feels great. I am loving being home. And I'm excited to say that Santa was super nice to me this year. I am so blessed to have a new vehicle to drive and a new laptop (which I'm still not sure if I like) as well as some spending money. Megan left for Kentucky yesterday to see her boyfriend and I will be leaving in the morning to head to Houston to see Andrew! Yay! I haven't seen him in about 2 weeks, but it feels like it has been FOREVER. And we will come back here for an East Texas New Year's Eve which will include tons of fireworks at a friend's house.

How was your Christmas?

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday y'all! I can happily say that I finished all of my Christmas and birthday shopping yesterday. And I finished wrapping all my gifts. On top of that, I'm happy with my grades for the semester. Not much has been going on, just spending some much needed time with my family and catching up with lots of doctor appointments. OH I almost forgot. I got a haircut on Saturday, took off about 4-5 inches and I can't even tell that I cut it at all. But my hair feels so silky smooth and soft and I love that I don't have any split ends.

This week is filled with lots of food, family, and good times. Tomorrow is kind of uneventful, but Wednesday is Dad's birthday and we will be spending the day with my grandparents. Thursday is Megan's birthday and we are planning to go to Dallas to see Mary and Richard and I will be getting a new car! Wooohooo! I'm getting Mary's 2001/2002 Honda CR-V and I can't wait. And can't forget Christmas on Saturday.

Even though everything has been enjoyable at home, I really miss Andrew. This happens every semester, I always get used to seeing him every single day and then I don't see him for 2-3 weeks (or longer) and go crazy in the first few days. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see him shortly after Christmas when I go to visit him and then and we will turn around and come here for New Year's. And I can't wait :)

I'll post pictures of my new car and lots of birthday photos later!

Full Christmas Mode

Its Friday! Hooray! Things have certainly been busy lately. It feels like finals were ages ago, and that I've been on break for much longer than a few days. I left town Wednesday afternoon, and made record time getting home. The rest of the evening was spent hanging out with dad and being a bofa on the sofa. Yesterday was filled with laughter and shopping with dad and Megan. We went to lunch where dad spilled his water all over me and my purse. I was soaked along with everything in my purse and it was windy outside when we left (I wasn't dry by then). We got a whole lot of shopping done, and today is going to be another day of shopping if my sister will ever get up and get moving. I'm super duper excited because I found a new pair of jeans!! The only place I can get my jeans from is the Buckle and they aren't cheap. And usually they are the first jeans to fly off the shelves cause for some reason there are girls out there apparently like to buy their jeans extra long so that they drag the ground 3-4 inches. I don't understand. LEAVE THE LONG JEANS FOR THE PEOPLE THAT NEED THEM THE MOST. Sorry. I haven't had a pair of new jeans that actually fit in almost 2 years. Every time I shop they never have what I need, but this time they did and I'm ecstatic about it :)

I'm still on the hunt for birthday gifts for dad and Megan, but it is so difficult because their birthdays are so close to Christmas (the 22nd and 23rd). Oh well, they both said they don't want or need anything, but I'm not taking that for an answer.

Happy Friday, happy weekend, and happy shopping!

Another Semester Gone By

First, I want to say thanks to those of you who have been so RIGHT and so UPLIFTING with my current situation with Andrew's dad. You know who you are! I have some amazing friends :)

This morning I had my last final and I can finally say that I'm done with another semester. Its almost surreal. Things are moving faster every single day. And I don't think I like it very much. If things were going the way I had originally started out, this would be my last day of my fall semester as an undergraduate. And I could say that I only have one more semester left. How weird does that sound? Anyways, since I'm graduating in ONE YEAR I have a little extra time on my hands. But it feels so good to be done. I haven't started packing my things up (which I really should be doing) but I have my list of things to take home! I had a terrible time last break: I left my hairdryer, dirty clothes, heavy winter coat, and a ton of other items in my dorm because I was in a hurry to leave and go home. I was miserable! Lesson learned. So I'm taking things nice and slow and doing my best to not forget anything. We'll see how this goes.

If you're still taking finals, good luck! If you're done, have a fabulous Christmas! If you're graduating, congratulations!! Wish I could be there.

11 Days, 8 Hours, 41 Minutes

UNTIL CHRISTMAS! I googled it.

I told you that I would let you know how my weekend went after my last uneventful encounter with Andrew's dad. Annnddd....everything was okay. Friday night before Andrew and I left we stopped for dinner at Sonic. It was delicious! Minus the fact that they messed up my order. But that's okay, I've gotten used to it everywhere I go. Anyways, we got to his house and nobody was home. Austin (brother) had a basketball tourney (their mom always goes with him), Alissa (sister) was performing at her church's Christmas play, and Andrew's dad was working late. So we sat around and did a whole bunch of nothing. Around 10pm I started to get hungry again but refused to tell anyone or eat anything. Eventually I gave in and ate some string cheese. But I was feeling terrible because I knew that couldn't eat in front of Andrew's dad. I went to bed hungry. Saturday was pretty laid back, Andrew had his referee meeting and we watched a few hours of tv then did some studying. I was hungry throughout the day, but I still didn't want to eat. And of course, I gave up again and ate. Sunday was church and lunch at Genghis Grill and it was yummy! Then we went to watch Alissa in the Christmas play which lasted 2 and a half hours. After that we headed home and got back to CS and studied.

Today I don't have a whole lot going on, I had one final earlier and I have one tomorrow and then I'm finished. Unfortunately it is my hardest final and I need to kick butt on it. Part of me still feels like it isn't Christmas yet. Weird, right?

Elephant in the Room

So Andrew and I are in Houston for the weekend. Andrew is refereeing church league basketball starting in January and therefore has his preseason meeting Saturday morning. And I just decided to tag along in the midst of finals, which I'm procrastinating as much as possible :)

I was looking forward to coming to Houston but as the time grew close to us leaving, I became very apprehensive and Andrew could definitely tell something was wrong. The reason I was so apprehensive was because of what Andrew's dad had told me over the Thanksgiving break. Sunday afternoon he pulled me aside to talk to me. The first words out of his mouth were "as my potential future daughter-in-law....there are a few things I'd like to discuss with you". He said something about Andrew, and then he started to say that my mom kept herself looking good for her age (which confused me) and then said that I had less than a year to walk down the aisle and that he thought that my mother wouldn't want to see THAT as he pointed to my belly. At first I could only think about daughter-in-law and walking down the aisle. What the heck. Then I thought about the other part...oh yeah. He told me I was fat and that I need to lose weight. So harsh, right? He went on to tell me a few other things, which I will not repeat. Deep down I know he's right, I've picked up about 30 pounds since I met Andrew. But it still really hurt. Although I think it might give me more motivation to actually get up off my ass and do something about my weight. Of course Andrew had no idea what was going on until we got back to CS a few hours later and I was still upset.

So that's why I didn't want to come to Houston for the weekend, I feared he might say something more about that whole conversation and I would only cry more. So I will let you know on Sunday how the weekend goes.

Ticket Pull Thursday

Hey readers! I'm super stoked to tell you that I GOT TICKETS FOR THE COTTON BOWL!! Yay! My friend Elizabeth was nice enough to let me camp with her group, and I can't thank them enough. She is such a sweetheart and I'm excited to have class with her again next semester. They were the ones who camped out Tuesday and Wednesday night. This morning I woke up at 5:30 to get ready to stand in line with them. I think it was about 30 degrees outside when I left my apartment shortly before 6am. There were A MILLION people. Okay, I lie, but the line went all the way back to E. King Gill to give you an idea of how many people there were in every line. Oddly enough there are still spirit passes available for $50, which is the nice way of saying standing room tickets. We stood in line for over an hour, and watched the sun come up and brighten the sky (obviously you can't really see the sun if you're standing in front of Kyle Field because G. Rolie is in the way but you know what I mean). I called Mom and we are both super stoked. If I haven't already mentioned this, the Aggies went to the Cotton Bowl when she was a student but wasn't able to go. It will definitely be an unforgettable experience for both of us. After pulling tickets I had to go to class. Poop on you Blinn for not having Reading Days! And then I came back for breakfast and a nice warm nap. Finals are just around the corner, and then its Christmas! Oh, and Dad's and Megan's birthdays too.

PS. I have been waiting to get into one of my upper level health classes, Drugs & Society, and there had been a few problems but thankfully the department opened seats today and I was able to get in it! Hooray!

Succumbing to Senioritis

With 4 classes out of the way and only two finals left, I have no desire to do anything at all. I'm sure the rest of you are feeling the same way. As for my grades, I have 3 As and 1 B. I've been camping out with some of my friends and the ticket pull is tomorrow morning at 7am. Hooray for the Cotton Bowl! Anyways, I've had no motivation to study or do any homework whatsoever. My finals are on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I have some time to study between now and then. Andrew and I are planning on going to Houston this weekend; he has a referee meeting and his sister is singing with the church choir for a Christmas concert and I'm just tagging along cause Andrew's mom invited me. Maybe this week is supposed to be "boring blog posts" week. Haha.

Days are dragging by, and it doesn't feel like Christmas is right around the corner. I haven't even put up any decorations yet. Does anybody feel this way too?

Weekend Update & Cotton Bowl Camp-out

Such a boring title, I know. It goes along with my boring weekend lol. Sadly I have to sit here and really think about what I did this weekend because I honestly don't remember all of it. Friday night Andrew, Erik and I went to dinner at Olive Garden, and I found some wine that I really like! Everyone knows wine is one of those "acquired tastes" and this one appeals to my tastes :) if I'm not mistaken, it was Beringer's White Zinfandel. Yum! Erik had a paper to work on, so Andrew and I didn't do much of anything. Saturday was spent sleeping and running a few errands with Andrew, and I got a Christmas present! It's one of the coolest toys ever and I would tell you what it is, but it's one of those things that doesn't need to be mentioned on the internet for anyone and everyone to see. But if you really want to know, message me and I'll tell you. Saturday night on tv was a Harry Potter marathon, and I got sucked in. Sunday was church, lunch at Chili's, a nap, and another HP movie. Pretty uneventful.

Yesterday I only had one class, and I will only have 2 classes left after today. My grades so far are 2 A's and one B. Not too shabby. I got to see Sammie and watch her brother play basketball aannnd got to celebrate my friend Betsy's 21st birthday! Hope you're feeling okay today Betsy! We had a blast.

Today I have a bunch of little things going on, as well as some homework that I should have done over the weekend. At 5:00 students can start camping out in front of Kyle Field for bowl game tickets. Mom and I are dying to go, but seeing that I don't have a tent and don't know anyone else that is camping out, I have no idea what to do. There's only 1250 student tickets, each costs $125, and one student can only pull 2 tickets. If you want to camp out with me or know someone who is camping out, let me know!

Survival of Hell Week

Hey y'all! It's been forever since I've updated and things have been crazy and are finally over. I'm sure you're wondering what all has been happening, and I have lots to tell! Ok, well maybe not that much but more than normal :)

Thanksgiving was wonderful but way to short, I only got to spend about a day with my entire family (including Mom and Meg) and then everybody was gone and I went to Andrew's for the remainder of the weekend. One of my cousins going to UTMB recently bought Just Dance 2, made for Wii, and I'm obsessed! My family got the first one whenever it came out, but this one is SO MUCH BETTER. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting this for Christmas! And I can't forget about the great football game! The Aggies did great, and I'm looking forward to next season already! The Cotton Bowl is in January, and I might be going. Mom wants to go, and maybe some other family will join us too and we will have a blast.

Just to tell you what I had: 1 paper, 1 presentation, 3 exams, and 3 finals. All the week after Thanksgiving. Crazy huh?!? Monday kicked off the week I had been dreading all semester. I spent my free time studying and working on the video presentation. Tuesday I had one final and one exam, Wednesday was another exam, which I made a 100 on, whoop! I was caught in the middle of being right between an A and a B but thankfully my prof curved my grade just a hair :) overall I had an 89.49 and that has never happened in any of my college courses. Yesterday was the worst day of them all. I had a final for my kinesiology class, then an exam for a psychology class, and last but definitely the most important, my medical terminology final. I made a B in the class. Whew. Today I've just been coasting downhill and trying to clean up the messes around apartment since I haven't done anything but study this week. Yay?

Additionally, I've had a nasty cough since before the Nebraska game (about 3 weeks) and it was starting to get better but then Thanksgiving day it got really bad again and has been bad ever since. Nothing that I take seems to be working; I've tried cough drops, peppermint, cough syrup, dayquil and nyquil, mucinex, an OTC 24 hour allergy relief, and even a prescription. I'm not coughing anything up either. But there have been times where I almost can't breathe because I'm coughing so hard and I draw lots of attention to myself. The other people at the SCC taking their final last night loved me I'm sure.

Oh yeah, my sister got a new(er) car as a gift from my ex-stepmom and her new hubby AND a plane ticket to Kentucky for the Christmas holidays. Ugh. Aren't you supposed to spend Christmas with your family and not some boy that you met over summer that lives 600 miles away? Or am I the crazy one? Oh, and I'll be getting a newer car from them too as an early graduation present because they don't want it anymore, they have another new Lexus to drive, one for her and one for him (from the wedding). But I'm thrilled to have a newer vehicle and I can't wait to get it.

I have no plans for the weekend except to take a whole bunch of Vitamin C and get lots of sleep. Relaxing weekend, here I come!

Empty Campus

So obviously it's the day before Thanksgiving and everyone is out of class except for a small handful of people. This morning my bus completely skipped 2 stops because nobody was there. I get on campus and it's kinda creepy and dead like it was this summer. I have an exam in about 45 minutes and then it's home to pack and go see my family! I was planning on going home but due to some family drama that won't happen. So I'm going to Houston while my roomie has thanksgiving at our place. How exciting. I just hope she cleans up her mess before her family arrives. We'll see. I will be enjoying family time and studying plus the big game against Texas. Have a happy Thanksgiving! Fall asleep in front of the tv :)

Super Swamped

Its almost halfway through Tuesday and I'm just now sitting down for a weekend recap. Sheesh. Things sure have been crazy, and its just one of those weeks. Next week will be even worse. But for now I won't think about that. Instead I'll think about how nice it will be to spend time with my family and enjoy the weather getting cold. I've worn shorts the last 3 days, and its almost December. The weather keeps getting stranger every season. And think about THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS! ♥ ♥ ♥

Friday was pretty uneventful, I had registration (which I completely forgot about) and Sammie came to visit for the football game. We rented a movie, and it was terrible. Andrew thought I wanted to see it when in reality there was a short clip that I wanted to see and didn't care anything about the rest of the movie. We didn't go to Midnight Yell, which was okay with me.

Saturday I spent studying and making a run to the grocery store before the game. I don't think I got much done but I feel like I did. The game was epic. No joke. If you didn't hear, the #19 Aggies played #8 Nebraska and we beat them 9 to 6. Now the Aggies are ranked #17 and I think we will play at a bowl game. After the game I was in another baking mood and baked more goodies.

Sunday was the usual church and lunch routine, then home to study. And a Thanksgiving potluck with my favorite mentors and sister community :) it was delicious. I came home and almost fell asleep. Shame on me.

As this week started I could feel the stress hit me like a freight train. Andrew might have the flu, and I'm doing my best to take care of him. To give you an idea of what I have going on, tomorrow I have an exam. I've been meeting with one class group to finish a project and that is taking way more time than I expected. On top of that I'm studying like a mad woman. What all do I have?

Monday - 2 assignments due for first aid, 2 assignments for my lifespan psych class
Tuesday - quiz and video presentation in developmental
Wednesday - last exam for first aid
Thursday - self defense final, developmental exam and paper due, medical terminology final
Friday - last CT of the semester
**this doesn't include other assignments that haven't been given out yet**

Maybe when I put it like that it doesn't sound so bad, but really??? 2 exams, 2 finals, a paper and numerous assignments. I'm going to explode next week. Seriously.

There Goes my Memory Again

Since coming to college I have become more and more forgetful every day. Maybe its from stress, maybe some medication, or maybe I just have too much going on. Who knows. Tonight at 8pm was my registration for my spring semester classes. I have a post-it on my desk as a reminder AND I also put a reminder on my phone to go off 15 minutes before registration opened. Unfortunately, I fell asleep while waiting for Andrew and Erik to come over, and once Sammie arrived I forgot all about my classes and how important they were. We went out for dinner, then came back and decided to watch a movie (thank you, Redbox!) and that was it. The guys left, Sammie fell asleep on the couch and I organized my room a little bit before hopping in the shower. About 2 minutes after being in the shower I remembered about registration. I couldn't just jump out of the shower though, I had already started the lengthy process of washing my hair and wasn't about to drip water everywhere. So I waited, and after getting out of the shower I called Andrew to respond to a text he had sent and he could tell I was freaking out and even he felt bad for not helping me remember or that I didn't remind him that it was tonight. Thankfully, registration for whatever reason hadn't closed yet! Normally it closes on the weekends and I was gonna hafta wait until 5am Monday morning to register. Sick. But I got all the classes I want with the exception of Drugs & Society. Its one of my in-high-demand health classes and they first force graduating seniors in before letting other students register. Technically I should be a graduating senior, but I'll have to wait until the fall semester for it to really count. So I have to wait until open registration in January to get into that last class.

Major freak-out avoided. Score!

Just Call Me Susie Homemaker

Yep, its pretty much official. I've changed my name to Susie Homemaker. Just kidding. This week I have been on a cooking/baking craze. I went to the store on Wednesday and spent over $70 just on groceries alone. Yesterday for dinner I made chicken noodle soup, which was a little bit salty but still eatable. And eatable is totally a word...because I said so. Then after dinner I decided to prep early for my potluck dinner on Sunday and made 2 buttermilk pies which took so much longer than I was expecting. And today I made some pumpkin bread and cereal haha. Sadly I am almost out of eggs, otherwise I would have made some banana bread too.

I have no idea what has gotten me into this whole cooking craze, I know I used to LOVE watching Food Network on Saturdays instead of watching cartoons like normal kids. And I LOOOOOOVE to eat. Which explains the belief that fat people are the best cooks! (and no, I'm not calling myself fat, but I'm a pretty damn good cook). Plus my grandma used to be able to cook just about anything and everything, but now that she's gotten older its harder on her and she doesn't cook much like she used to. Or perhaps its just the fact that now that I'm finally in an apartment and actually have a little time to cook that I'm just going crazy with it. Additionally, I find that cooking and baking really seem to help me de-stress. Which is always what I need :)

There's one website that I just recently found, and I am a little obsessed with it. Just a little. I haven't yet had a chance to look through all the recipies, but the pictures look amazinggg. It's called Joy of Baking and you should check it out!

Miami's Favorite Serial Killer

Whoa, I don't know how it already got to Wednesday. It feels like Monday and Tuesday just kinda dragged by but then today seemed to whiz by and I have been rather productive for it being so close to the end of the semester. I've been in a serious shopping mood, but sadly thankfully I don't have money to be spending on clothes and jewelry and gifts for family members. So instead of indulging myself in shopping, I've gotten into watching Dexter. I'm one of those people that loves CSI and Law and Order (SVU and CI in particular) and Dexter is also right up my alley. I started watching a few weeks ago and I'm already done with the first 2 seasons. I think it might be a healthy obsession. I looooooooooooooooove it.

Speaking of obsessions, I'm kinda OCD when it comes to cleanliness and organization. I have the sudden urge to go through all of my music on my external and sort it by genre then artist. Which means that I will be moving stuff around and will have to fix my iTunes and whatnot. Maybe that will be a good project for me over the Christmas break...

This has been one of those random rambling posts and I hope you've enjoyed it. Its what you get when I try to blog and watch Law & Order SVU haha :)

Ring Weekend Recap

Whew. These last few days have been crazy! I can't believe I haven't updated since last Wednesday, my bad guys. Let me fill you in on the great (aaaand not so great) things that have been happening since then.

1. class and work all day long
2. cooking dinner and cleaning my entire apartment (as I mentioned in my to-do list)
3. getting myself all cleaned up for Friday

1. had to go to work, we had a speaker from the Student Health Services put on a program called "Sex in the Dark" which is where students anonymously write down 1 or 2 sex questions and the lights are turned off (so everyone is in the dark) and the SHS speaker answered as many questiosn as she could.
2. got my nails done and I saw a friend from high school, Elissa, who was getting her ring too!
3. grandparents arrived and they brought furniture and I love it!
4. my mom and megan arrived with lunch. by the time they arrived I was beyond starving.
5. my dad arrived and got settled in his hotel then came over
6. everyone moved like a herd of turtles to get ready to go to campus -- y'all it took my family over an hour to get ready to go. who needs that much time???
7. found parking on campus and walked to the Alumni Center, in the past parking has been crazy hectic.
8. stood in line for my FIGHTIN TEXAS AGGIE RING!
9. GOT MY RING! yayayayayayayayay!
10. took a bazillion pictures..or what seemed like a bazillion pictures. for some reason my family has the hardest time taking normal pictures
11. came home and changed clothes since the sun was setting and it was getting cold, and we went to Olive Garden for dinner.
12. prepared to dunk my ring! but it almost got rained out! yes I dunked my ring in beer, no I didn't throw up, it took me a minute and 48 seconds to chug that whole pitcher. good thing I never have to do it again!
**if you would like to see pictures scroll down to the bottom of the post or just keep reading**

1. tried to sleep in, failed miserably.
2. made blueberry muffins and chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast
3. mom left and headed to see some of her old friends in Houston
4. dad, andrew, megan and I went shopping around town
5. I would like to elaborate on said shopping trip at one place in particular. Okay. So obviously being a tall Amazonian freak it is darn near impossible to find pants long enough. Only one store that I shop at carries jeans to fit. I won't mention the name of this store, but all of their clothes are extremely overpriced (including the jeans which can run about $80 a pair but are amazing and last FOR-EVER.) Anyways, they were really busy and I assume that everyone is already starting their Christmas shopping. I looked through the entire store and didn't find a single pair of jeans in my size, and neither did Megan. Finally 2 guys came over to help us out, we told them what size we were looking for and they began to hunt. They came back with one pair for me and 2 pairs for Megan. One of the guys tried to explain to me that if I would just try on a pair for the waist then I could order online. Wrong answer dude. I've done that several times in the past, and with my ginormous thunder thighs I can't ever fit into a pair of jeans UNLESS THEY ARE LONG ENOUGH. It doesn't work that way. But this guy didn't understand that. So Megan and I left both empty handed and pissed. Thanks for listening to my little rant :)
6. went out for dinner, then came back to watch the Aggies beat the hell outta those Baylor Bears. I definitely yelled at the tv for the entire first half. What a game!

1. went to church--the message was rather long and the pastor seemed to drag it out an extra 15-20 minutes
2. ate lunch at Texas Roadhouse...amazing.
3. Megan and dad left to head back home (unfortunately Megan left some extremely important items here which are currently being mailed back to her)
4. took an hour and a half nap
5. went to the Indoor range with Andrew and took a practice CHL test. scored a 247/250. Not bad!
6. didn't do much the rest of the night, and it was wonderful.
Holy cow, I didn't realize that I've done so much in the last few days. But the most exciting part of it all was getting my Aggie Ring. And of course I have tons of pictures to share with you!

Before getting my ring but at this point I wasn't very excited yet.

Aren't we cute? This guy means so much to me!

Even though he was in a lot of pain, he still made the trip just for me and my special occasion! Love you Dad!

Waiting in line for my ring time to be called, and my mom told us to look excited so we did but I don't think it was quite what she was looking for.

There's that beautiful ring! My excitement couldn't be contained any longer

Doesn't it look pretty on my finger?

I think this is my favorite picture of myself from ring day :)

Can't forget the famous part of getting your ring, dunking it in a pitcher of beer and chugging as fast as you can!

Still chugging...

Almost done...

Got it!
I'm definitely not proud of dunking my ring in 1 minute 48 seconds, but it's better than nothing. A big thanks to everyone who came to my dunk and celebrated with me! Hope you had a great time! And if you're still reading this props to you for sitting through my entire weekend recap. You're a great reader :) and this post took me like an hour to write. No joke.

Dragging Along

Is it just me or is this week going by super duper slow? And its only Wednesday, but almost Thursday! Maybe its just me and my anxious awaiting of my Aggie Ring (does that make sense? Rereading it makes it sound weird...) on Friday! Woooohooooo! I couldn't be more excited. My family is coming to visit, as well as my grandparents. And I can't forget about the dunk & party. I've been trying to get ready for that all week. Everything is almost ready, I have a few more things to throw together tomorrow night. Plus my clearning spree is about to take full effect. I don't know exactly why, but I am obsessed when it comes to cleaning. Part of me enjoys it, and I love the end result. Is that weird? Maybe I should start my own cleaning business hahaha.

What I have left to do:
1. fix the meatball dish
2. make the jalapeno-cilantro dip
3. vacuum the living room, kitchen, and bedroom
4. clean the sinks, toilet, and mirror

If you would like to come to my ring dunk, let me know and I'll send you the info :)

Football Heaven, Good as Gold

Hi everybody! Happy Monday! This past weekend has been one of the best this fall! The Aggies beat the hell outta OU on Saturday night, and I couldn't be happier! There were some ups and downs from the game, and the refs sucked for the first half but it turned out amazingly well. All the while I was texting my mom to keep her updated, and she finally turned on the tv after halftime. The wrecking crew has finally returned to Kyle Field! If you don't know, the Wrecking Crew is a name given to the Aggie defense team. It was coined by defensive back Chet Brooks and became popular during Coach R.C. Slocum's tenure in 80s and the 90s. They did a killer job. With this win, it put us in the #25 spot with the BCS rankings aaaaaand #23 in the AP poll. And it is also the first time A&M has beat OU since 2002 in football. GIG'EM!

The rest of the weekend was fairly unexciting, I spent my time studying and relaxing which felt amazing. This morning I woke up extra early to get my Ring Ticket! Eeeeeeeeeeeeekk! Am I really about to get my Aggie Ring? Yes Yes YES! If you would like to come to my ring dunk, let me know and I'll send you a Facebook invite :)

Recipe Turned Right

Hey all! It feels like forever since I've been on here to update, and I guess in a way it has. Tuesday seems like it was so far away. Anyways, not too much has been going on around here besides school, work, and getting ready for my Aggie Ring! I've fallen in love with the cold weather because it means that I can cook lots of soups and delicious goodies in my slow cooker! Wednesday night I attempted to make chicken noodle soup. I was lacking on veggies (carrots and celery) and only had spaghetti noodles and 1 can of chicken broth. But I made do with what I had. Andrew loves a ton of noodles in his soup so I added extra. A TON EXTRA. After finishing everything up, the end result was alright, not my favorite but decent for the few ingredients that I had. Thursday night was Big Bang Theory night so Andrew and Erik were over, and I didn't really feel like cooking so I whipped out the extra soup and some for Andrew (it made a whole lot, enough for me to eat for about 5 or so days at least) and I'll be darned if it didn't taste exactly like the Chicken N'Dumplins from Cracker Barrel. IT WAS AMAZING. I don't know what I did or didn't do to make it come out that way, but I love it even more now. And all of this makes me want to cook even more. My normal grocery list has grown extensively since Wednesday!

Tonight the Aggies are playing OU, I don't know if I want to go to the game or not because it will be cold and I don't think it will be a very good game. Just sayin.

Preparation for the Partying Sensation

Hello friends! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and a happy Halloween! My weekend was fairly uneventful, Megan was here all weekend and we did a whole bunch of nothing besides sleeping and going to the football game, and the Aggies beat Tech 45 to 27! Whoop! They definitely needed a win to boost their confidence to finish out the season with some dignity intact. The weather was nice but unfortunately we all got sunburned. Oh well.

Pre-game picture. The high was only supposed to be somewhere in the mid-70s but with the killer sun and no clouds, I think it was in the mid-upper 80s so we were super sweaty

Post-game picture. Favorite one from the entire game because you can't see the sunburns and we were happy that the Aggies won :)

Me and Andrew. Just a reminder, he is not that much taller than me. He was on the bench and I was on concrete, but I like having him that much taller than me haha.

The rest of the weekend was spent helping Megan study for her exams this week. After Megan left town Andrew picked me up and we went to the shooting range with Erik, Shala, and Erik's younger brother Andrew. Kinda confusing with all these Andrews going around! I got some target practice in to get ready for my CHL test next semester (that is if I can afford it and once I gget my own handgun). I kicked butt on the practice test that Andrew gave me! But I'm pretty nervous about the actual test.

On to my party preparations! 10 days from now I will have my Fightin' Texas Aggie Ring! Which means that I will be dunking my ring and having lots of people over to my place to watch me chug a pitcher of beer as fast as possible and possibly throw it all back up :) exciting, isn't it? So be on the lookout for a ring dunk invite sometime soon!

So for the last 2-ish weeks my mom was planning to visit me this weekend and come to the football game (and sit stand in the student section) but instead my mom decided to give up coming to see me so that my sister could come see me! She got here yesterday afternoon, right about the time that I was getting ready to take an exam and right about the time when there was a reported gunman on campus. In reality it was a guy carrying a replica weapon and everybody freaked out for no reason. Lucky for me, my exam got cancelled and my sister picked me up! I'm super glad that she is here and I'm pretty sure that we will have a fabulous time.

Have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious weekend!

Enchanted Rock & Thunderbirds

I know I promised to put up pictures from my wonderful but super busy weekend trip, and here they are finally! Just for a quick recap, Andrew, Erik, Shala (pronounced Shayla) and I got up super duper early Saturday morning to drive to Enchanted Rock and do some quality hiking. I am one of those girls who NEVER went hiking as a kid, not to mention I'm waaaaay out of shape. Needless to say, I was dying in the first 5 minutes. Before hiking we ate our lovely packed sandwiches, thanks to the boys. And of course had to take a bathroom break. Erik's original plan was to camp overnight, but it didn't work out. In case you didn't know, the higher we went the windier it got so I apologize for the hair mess. On to the pictures!

This was about a quarter of the way up, just to make sure that everyone hiking was on the right track

Like I said, I got really really tired and was stopping all along the way :)

Eventually the boys had the idea of carrying me up the rest of the way, which I refused, but still made for a good picture

Getting closer to the top!

If you stand on this little thing you are at the highest point on Enchanted Rock. I felt so accomplished for making it all the way up there because the last little part had a very steep incline and I was afraid that I might not get enough traction on my shoes and I would slip and fall and roll all the way down and die. Sometimes I have a crazy imagination...

Such an amazing view!

You can see for miles...that little windy road is the road we came in on

This was my best attempt of getting a pictures of us with a nice view, and not have my hair going everywhere.

After we reached the top, Shala and Erik went on their way alone so that it would just be the two of them for the proposal. She was so surprised! She completely had no idea what was going on. And of course she said yes! I was so worn out that I wasn't in the mood for much more hiking so we went back down and relaxed on a bench.

You can read all about the mythical powers of Enchanted Rock :)

And of course I had to get a picture in front of the sign to remember the trip, even though it was pretty unforgettable

We got back Saturday night and had a little party at my place, and I kicked everybody out at midnight because I'm an old woman. Just kidding. But I was exhausted and the next morning would come too soon for a trip to the Wings Over Houston Airshow!

Andrew's all-time favorite jet, the F-15. He wishes they would do a flyover, but all we ever get are F-16's and F-18's (don't ask me what the difference is, all he says is that they are more awesome)

For the main attraction, the Thunderbirds performed! I should add that the Air Force Academy was going to give Andrew a full ride for basketball but instead he came here! Yay! Anyways, he thinks the Thunderbirds are sooooooo cool. Personally I like the Blue Angels more (they are the Navy jets) because I have seen them peform more at other airshows. By the time they got started, I was grumpy and hot and exhausted and didn't want to stick around. But Andrew snapped a few pictures, none of which I like but I'll share anyways.

Their second flyover, there are 6 jets and normally they divide up 4 and 2 and fly together. Andrew was like a kid in the candy store. No joke

Four jet formation

Two jet formation

My personal favorite is when all six jets fly together, but sadly I wasn't able to snap a picture of that. We also stopped at Andrew's house going both ways, and mooched a meal from the parentals. His mom is so sweet and Andrew tells me all the time that she loves me a whole lot. Which is awesome because she might be my possible-mother-in-law and not my monster-in-law one day :) oh, after this weekend I realized that I have the worst shorts tan line EVER. It looks so goofy. Oh well.

Thanks for sitting through all my interesting (or boring pictures) and I hope you enjoyed them! I highly recommend going to Enchanted Rock or the nearby city just to check it out. I am actually really dying to go back to the town because it is one of those small touristy towns with a home grown feel.

Love-Hate with my Nail Polish

I have a love-hate relationship with fingernail polish. I love it on my toes, even though its kinda hard to get all the way down there :) and I love every single color of the rainbow. But for some reason I think it looks odd on my fingernails. Maybe it's because I don't wear it often enough so I'm not quite used to it. Or maybe it's because I grow my nails out naturally and think long nails with polish just looks weird. I got fake nails about a month or so ago (you can read why I had to get them here) and because of that, my nails suck. Like, they break and tear all the time. And it is driving me CRAAAAAAAAAAAZY. So I figured that if I were to paint my nails, they would look better and stay intact. And they do, I just don't like the way they look. Andrew noticed my nails immediately and didn't really like it mostly because he has never seen my nails done. Plus I painted them a reddish-maroon color and he says that every time he looks at my hand he thinks it's blood and freaks out for a second before realizing what it is. Funny guy.

Do your nails ever look weird with nail polish? How do you manage with it?

Quick Weekend Recap

This weekend was one of those crazy-busy-holy-cow-when-will-all-of-this-end weekends. I don't think I've ever been happier on a Monday. To put things in a nutshell, Friday night was Boot Dance for my biffy Sammie, Saturday was proposal day at Enchanted Rock. Andrew's roommate proposed to his sweetheart on top of a rock (haha, he gave her a rock on a rock, get it? yeah, kinda lame I know). Sunday I went to Wings over Houston with Andrew and I was miserable almost the entire weekend. Don't ask me why, it was just a bad weekend for me. I promise I'll post more later after sorting through the ton of photos I took. If you don't know, I am one of those people who always forgets her camera. Well this time I didn't! So I have a ton of pictures and I have to figure out what to do with all of them since I'm pretty sure you won't wanna sit here and look through 50+ pictures of random stuff from the weekend.

How was your weekend?

Changing Again?

If you know me at all, you will know that I am slightly obsessed with colorful things. Okay, definitely more like crazy-psycho-must-have-it-if-its-colorful obsessed. And I mean colorful EVERYTHING, from markers to my room decorations. I love bright colors, and anything that sticks out and catches your eye. Which is why I love my background and header on my blog :)

But then I got bored with it and started looking at other backgrounds. I know you must be thinking "GEEEEEZ you're gonna change it again??!??" And I almost just did. Like not even 10 minutes ago almost changed it. But as I started looking through all the other designs, I realized none of them were as awesome as the one I have right now. None of them caught my eye like this one does. Although it may be a little distracting and too matchy-matchy for some people. So for now it will be staying the same and it might not ever change.

The Path

"The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark." Barbara Hall

Yeah, I'm going back there again with the whole OT school and uncertainty thing but it will all work out in the end. Some of you need to hear this today :)

We all do it. I've been especially bad about it this semester, mostly because I have more reading than I have ever had in my entire college career. I have 2 exams this week, a paper due, a quiz, and a ton of online homework assignments. And I know that its not good to cram because you won't remember any of it, but how can you manage with an exam nearly every week and not cram? I feel like I am always studying and reading and I haven't had a break since last Christmas. I so desperately want to just chill out for a weekend and not have to do anything or worry about anyone but me. This weekend might have been one of those relaxing weekends, but I made plans without even thinking about what the rest of my schedule looks like. I am so ready for a break and some r&r time.

Please tell me you feel this way too!

Drinking (slightly gross)

So I am in the process of studying for one of my exams this week, and I was reading in my book about aversion therapy, specifically covert sensitization. This requires alcholics to imagine upsetting, repulsive, or frightening scenes while they are drinking. And then it listed some scenes therapists may tell a client to imagine. Which totally grossed me out (mostly because I had a bad experience when I was little with the scene being imagined).

I'd like you to vividly imagine that you are tasting the (beer, vodka, rum, etc.). See yourself tasting it, capture the exact taste, color and consistency. Use all of your sense. After you've tasted the drink you notice that there is something small and white floating in the glass--it stands out. You bend closer to examine it more carefully, your nose is right over the glass now and the smell fills your nostrils as you remember exactly what the drink tastes like. Now you can see what's in the glass. There are several maggots floating on the surface. As you watch, revolted, one manages to get a grip on the glass and, undulating, creeps up the glass. There are even more of the repulsive creatures in the glass than you first thought. You realize that you have swallowed some of them and you're very aware of the taste in your mouth. You feel very sick and wish you'd never reached for the glass and had the drink at all.

Yes I know that this would never happen but maggots just gross me out. We had a ton of them in the trashcan one time and I opened the lid and several flies swarmed around my head and a few maggots got really close to my hand and I have goosebumps just thinking about it. If you're still reading, that is why I will never become an alcoholic.

Back to studying!

"Dwell in possibility" Emily Dickinson

On Friday there was a health career fair in Rudder and I have started to think that there is a possibility that I won't get into OT school. And that's okay with me. I've come to realize that my plans might not be what God has in store for me. The OT schools are insanley competitive (more than nursing schools) and hard to get into plus there's only 6 schools in the state, and if I don't get into a master's OT program there's always the option of being an OTA (occupational therapy assistant). From what I've heard recently there is no difference between the two minus the fact that OTs have all the paperwork to do where as OTAs just work with the patients. I think I will like that more honestly. I'm not a fan of paperwork, but then again, who is?

PS. I've been trying to update more frequently, are you still reading as often as I update??

Wienerfest and a 5K

Hope y'all had a fabulous weekend! I have decided that Wienerfest is my new favorite fall outing to attend in the B/CS area! Its put on by a couple that lives in CS and backed by the Brazos Animal Shelter. There was so much going on, and it was a blast! The morning kicked off with a 5K run/walk, and Sammie and I walked the entire way. I got my heart rate up and I had to slow down several times so she could keep up with me haha (its cause of my long legs). We finished barely under an hour, I think my time was 59:32:02 or something. And in case you were wondering, a 5K is just under 3 miles. After that we checked out the t-shirts and saw several adorable costumes! There were weenie races, weenie costume contests, and even things for wannabe weenies! It was so cute and it makes me miss my weenies that much more. So next year, I'm gonna do the 5K with a dog! Hah! And stay for all the other events.

The rest of my weekend was pretty uneventful, I saw Easy A and Daybreakers, both were enjoyable but I definitely loved Easy A 10 times better. And of course a heaping amount of studying, and a large amount of procrastinating :)

How was your weekend?

One Joy

{we heart it}
"One joy scatters a hundred griefs." Chinese Proverb

I've had so many stressful things hit me this week and so much going on this week that I forgot to think about all the good things in my life. Hope this is a reminder to all of you in case you have forgotten too. Have a great weekend!

Murphy's Law

Not too long after I met Andrew, he told me about Murphy's Law when I was having a really bad day. It says "anything that can go wrong will go wrong". Sounds pretty much like the downside of life. And that's where I'm at this very instant. Things have gone completely downhill from yesterday. I think I've hit rock bottom and I hope it doesn't get worse. The clutch pedal in my car needs to be fixed and I took it to 3 or 4 different places, all of which said they either don't do repairs or didn't have the time to fix it today even though it takes about 10 minutes to do. The rest of the day just had minor occurences that pissed me off and I hit my boiling point about 2 hours ago. My Internet stopped working on Sunday and I have had no luck getting it back up. I'm hoping that it can't get any worse from here, but I will let you know. Sorry I'm such a Debbie Downer!

WEDNESDAY UPDATE! Took my car in this afternoon and I left with a new hydraulic slave cylinder in my car that cost me $134. Its the thing that holds clutch fluid and it was leaking and needed to be replaced. Fantastic. Maybe now things will get better.

A Case of the Mondays

The weekend couldn't last long enough. Today has just been one of those awful days where nothing goes right and I'm to the point where I'm just ready to give up with everything. I stayed up really late last night and got up early this morning to study for my 2 exams, and for one of them that studying did not pay off. Which makes me more nervous about how I did the other one. This semester is really big for me because my GPA is hanging on by a thread, and I'm sure you've heard me mention a million times about the steep requirements for OT school (most places require at least a 3.0) and I am freaking out. Just a little.

So I just feel down and kinda bummy and I am so whipped already that I don't know if I will make it through this week and I have no motivation to do much of anything. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers :)

On a much happier note, today Andrew and I celebrate being together for the last year and a half. Crazy I know! Its unbelievable that he has been able to put up with me for this long. AND that I've been able to put up with him! Eventually I'll share the story of how we met with all of you ♥

There Already??

Wow, I can't believe that I've reached my 100th blog post already! And I can't believe that it is already October! But this cooler weather is ahhhhmazing. And since it is my 100th post, I figured I would make a promise to make this blog slightly more interesting. I know for those of you who read this you're either thinking "yay! her blogs are going to be awesome to read!" or "there was nothing boring about your blog in the first's yours, duh." so we will see if you like it more or less, or if it just happens to stay the same.

Anyways, last night me and several friends went to see this and it was awesome (since I love most of the movies by M. Night Shyamalan, and I'm a sucker for scary/suspenseful movies) plus it had a great message behind it:

Andrew was able to figure out who it was in the first 10-15 minutes. Lucky guesser. If you want to go see it I will totally go with you :)

After the movie Andrew, Erik and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings because I was starving (we ate at Cotton Patch and they totally messed up my food and I was extremely disappointed but didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to be mean). Also, I have this fear that someone will spit in my food if I send it back. Disgusting. Getting back on track, we went to BWW then came home and watched Underworld: Evolution. Not my first choice but still a good movie.

Have a fab weekend!

Moved to Monday

Today in class my professor decided to take a poll to see who would actually study tomorrow night for our exam on Friday. Obviously nobody will be studying because everybody will be watching the Aggies BTHO OSU. Weeeeeeeeeeeell....maybe not everybody. Which means that he moved our exam to Monday! Yes! A few extra days to study and read the last chapter on the exam. The only downside is that means 2 back to back exams on Monday morning, which means I will be a studyin' fool all weekend long minus going to see Devil on Friday night and Roxy & Josh's ring dunks Saturday night which I'm super duper excited about cause I'll get to spend some time with some fab Access people as well as my peeps from my old job that I haven't seen in FOREVER. Plus I have an exam tomorrow, booooooo.

If you have an exam tomorrow, good luck!

Feels Like Fall

I am loving this cooler weather! The first day of fall was last Wednesday, and it definitely is starting to feel like it. I didn't even know that Texas had a jumps straight from summer heat to winter cold. (Okay, I kid, but this fall weather is nice!) I couldn't decide on what to wear so I settled on jeans, a tee, and a fleece jacket. I was thankful for my jacket for about a minute then I started to get warm. Ooops. And now I'm at home in shorts but I was cold earlier. Go figure. This weather has me thinking about leggings, cozy sweaters, warm boots, fall colors, and using my candle warmer. Oh, and I'm thinking about the holidays too :)

Soaked in the Shower

I walked out to the bus stop this morning and waited...and waited....and waited. And a bus eventually showed up about 10 minutes late. I wanted to get to campus early that way I would have a chance to prep for work this morning. Well those 10 minutes made all the difference in me getting to campus. As the bus got close to dropping everybody off, the clouds opened up and soaked everybody on campus. I was drenched even with my umbrella (plus my shoes might be nasty now). The majority of my students showed up late since they did not want to get out in the rain. About 2-3 minutes after I got to work the sunshine came out and it stopped raining. Unbelievable. Plus I washed my hair last night and it was all straight and pretty this morning. Not so much anymore. Eventually I got back home and its now the weekend and I have pulled everything out of my backpack hoping that it will dry and not ruin.

Did you get caught in the shower?

Party Party Party

Today is Andrew's 22nd birthday! Even though we both have class all day long I have a few tricks up my sleeve. Well not really. I'm baking him a cake for tonight and we will be watching the season premiere of The Big Bang Theory. His family will be coming up Saturday night to celebrate with us. Other than that there are no birthday plans. I know he wants to go to the shooting range and maybe go bowling. The weird part is that he has few friends here at school which makes it difficult to plan surprises and it drives me craaaaazy. But I'm getting used to it. Anyways, I won't divulge any more birthday surprises for fear of Andrew's wandering eyes reading this.

"Happiness consists more in small conveniences of pleasures that occur every day, than in great pieces of good fortune that happen but seldom to a man in the course of his life." Benjamin Franklin

So many times I forget to stop and enjoy the little things in my life that make me happy. Today I am going to make myself think of five things that make me happy at this very minute.

1. having Andrew in my life
2. not having to stress about an exam this week
3. the candy corn that I bought yesterday (super delicious)
4. being able to call my mom whenever I need her
5. cotton candy ice cream (they have it on campus at bernie's and just thinking about it makes me happy)

What small pleasures are making you happy right now?

♥ Lovers Lane Wedding ♥

So this weekend was a blast (even though I missed my friends who got their rings) and I'm finally getting around to updating! Andrew and I left Friday afternoon and headed to Dallas for Mary's wedding and of course it was beyond extravagant! We barely made it for the wedding rehearsal and after that we had to rush to the hotel and get ready for the Rehearsal Dinner party. The theme for the party was "1950s Glamour" at the Park City Club. We had a pre-wedding brunch at the Celebration Restaurant before heading to the church to get ready for the wedding at 6pm. The wedding was at the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church and it was lovely. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to take many pictures, as I was a bridesmaid and had my hands full. Thankfully there were 3 photographers and a videographer for all the events (they were with us every step of the way) and pictures should be arriving in about 12 weeks. I can't wait to have those pictures! And just so you know, I didn't have quite the best photographer and I apologize for the fuzzyness and lack of photos.

Megan and I posing during the rehearsal that took over an hour! Apparently we were supposed to dress up and I didn't get the memo.

Megan was first down the aisle and we had to make sure that we were lined up with the person on the other side and they constantly told us to SMILE!

I smiled at Andrew and waited forever and a day for him to take a picture as I was walking down the aisle but he never noticed until I looked away.

Mary and her parents walking down the aisle pretending to hold their candle votives

At the 50s glamour party with Megan. This might be my new favorite picture of us.

I would like to point out that I was wearing 2-ish inch heels and was feeling weird that I was just as tall as Andrew so I decided to lean over to try and look shorter. Instead I have the baby bump look. Oooooooooooops. And this dress will most likely be the dress that I wear for Ring Dance in the spring.

This is one of the best pictures I've seen of Andrew in quite some time and I love it when he smiles so much

Oh, and did I tell you that I caught Mary's bouquet after the wedding? Well I did :) and I know you know what that means

Now to count down 12 weeks for the really great pictures!

The fabulous maid of honor uploaded a few more pictures and I thought I would share them with you!

One more picture from the Glamour party on Friday night. From left to right: Sage, Megan, Andrew, me, and Zach. Sage and Zach are the MOH's kids and are pretty awesome :)

Mary finally in her wedding dress posing for the fancy photographers. Isn't she beautiful?

Shiny Gold Ring

I want to get my ring this Friday like all of my friends *saaaaaaaaadddd face*

Sorry for sounding mopey and whiny, but I have waited 7 years to get my Aggie Ring and I am totally jealous of all my friends who are getting their rings this week. I say I've been waiting seven years, which is completely true. I was fourteen years old when I attended my first Aggie football game and actually saw the campus and I fell in love. Ever since then I have waited. And now that day is less than 2 months away. But I want it now like everybody else, I didn't kill myself this summer with 10 hours for nothing. To make things worse, and I know I already mentioned this, but I won't be able to make it to any ring dunks this weekend since I'm going out of town for my ex-stepmom's wedding. So thanks for listening to me whine and complain. And I don't need any cheese :)

on a completely irrelevant note, Andrew's 22nd birthday is in 10 days and I need to figure out what to do for his birthday. ideas are greatly appreciated!

Check-In and Check-Up

Hey hey! Its been awhile since I've checked in, school has been keeping me super busy and its only the 3rd week of class. Sheesh. And even though I haven't updated super recently, nothing much has changed. The football game against La Tech was good and bad until the 2nd half and everything was good. On top of all things school and work related, I seem to be getting sick. Thanks allergies, I love you too..

Mary's (my ex-stepmom) wedding is SATURDAY. I can't believe that its already here. I wonder what color dress she will wear this time...its her 5th marriage and maybe this one will last. Anyways, this means that Andrew and I will be driving to Dallas on Friday after he finishes with class. And the weekend will involve getting gussied up and lots of expensive, delicious food. The only thing about her wedding being this weekend is that Ring Day is Friday, and I know about 12,327,086 people getting their rings and I'm sad that I will be missing several dunks.

Right now I should think about studying, I have my first exam of the semester on Wednesday. Boooooooo. Or I will think more about taking a nap :)

So this morning I did not want to get out of bed. Seriously. It was so warm and toasty and dark outside, and I was almost late to class because of it. I drove to class since it was at Blinn. Class ended, and I walked back to my car in the pouring rain. About 30 seconds after I got in my car the radio broadcast suddenly put out the national weather service warning and said that there had been a tornado warning issued. A few minutes into driving back to my apartment, I got a Code Maroon text saying that there was a tornado heading straight for campus. Well that's just great, I'm close to campus and I'm driving down the highway. Worst place to be. But I made it home in one piece and flipped on the tv and the radio to check for updates. I almost didn't go to my other classes. But I did and it was a decent day, but I really thought CS was gonna float away (part of me still thinks that since its still raining).

I feel really behind on all my classes and studying and whatnot. I put off my medical terminology fees since I didn't have the money for it and now I have to crunch before the quiz on Friday. It would be nice to know before I register for the class that I have to pay EXTRA for it so I can start saving my money and get a head start on studying....but nooooooo. Oh well. I'm sure my feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed will only get worse before they get better. Like I've mentioned before, I'm a worrywart and love to stress about everything and its genetic :)

Roses & Shoes

Lots of exciting things have happened since Friday night! Saturday Andrew and I celebrated 1 yr. and 5 months together and he bought me a dozen red roses the night before and they were absolutely beautiful :) there's a picture on facebook if you would like to see them (my sister took it on her iPhone so I don't have a picture) and pardon me for not having a vase to put them in yet. Saturday night the Aggies totally beat the hell outta SFA 48-7 and it was an awesome game! Did I mention that Andrew and I were on the 40 yd line directly behind the band? Great seats but sometimes it was impossible to hear or see. Afterwards, Megan, Andrew, Erik, and I went to Applebee's for some food and it was delicious. I was famished from standing that entire game. Today was pretty lazy, the usual church and lunch plus running lots of errands. We went to Ross, Big Lots, Academy, Spoons, and Walmart. Andrew was super nice and bought me some new sneakers cause my Nike Shox weren't gettin the job done at all. So I'm back to wearing my trusty New Balance sneaks. The strange thing is that I had to get a size 12 instead of 11 like I have in the past, which means my feet have grown a little more. Greeeeeaaaaaaatttt. But I think I'm gonna love them! And I can't thank Andrew enough for buying them for me :)

Megan will be leaving tomorrow but I will get to see her the weekend after next for Mary's wedding. I can't believe that its already here! And I'm pretty bummed that we don't have Labor Day off like everybody else does. Pretty dumb if you ask me. But oh well.

How was your weekend?

First & Midnight Yell

So tonight kicks off the annual first yell, featuring Bill Engvall, followed by the first midnight yell practice of the 2010 football season. Normally I would be excited about such a thing, but for some reason I'm not at all. College Station doesn't feel like my home anymore. It's weird, ya know? I mean I won't be graduating until next December so I have time to stick around here but I guess since I'm a senior its still different. Part of me doesn't even want to go, even though I paid $17 for my first yell ticket and Andrew says he will make me go to midnight yell whether I want to or not. Personally I would just rather sit at home and watch tv or a movie or something. And I had the brilliant idea for a date for Megan to midnight yell, and it was almost perfect (I saw the guy I wanted to be her date today) but since she's all hung up on the guy she met in Florida back in July that lives in Kentucky she doesn't have eyes for anybody else, even if the two of them never get any farther than talking on the phone. Apparently she hasn't heard of a summer romance and that it only lasts through summer. But I guess she'll learn one way or another, even if it leads to her heart getting broken again.

Miss Megan

So you'll never guess who decided to come visit me for the weekend. Yep, my sister :) she arrived while I was in class this afternoon and I couldn't wait to get out of class to see her! She has a 4-day weekend (I am totally jealous) and we don't have many plans except to chill and hang out. I have tickets for First Yell and the football game, but I didn't know she was coming until last night therefore I didn't have a chance to get her tickets. But regardless, we are both happy that she is here and it will be a fabulous weekend!

Megan (about age 3) and me (about age 5) were cute as buttons! Don't you agree?

Good to Bad to Worse

First day as a senior started yesterday (obviously) and it was a pretty chill day. Both of my classes are in the morning, and I was done at 11:10am. So I came home, relaxed, did some laundry, went to a friend's for dinner, and stopped by campus to see Andrew for a bit. Today was a little tougher with getting into the swing of school and I had 3 classes to go to, one of them is at Blinn and parking was insane today! But I managed to find a spot thankfully. I ate lunch with Blake since we have a class together, drove home and caught the bus for class. Tia (my immediate supervisor) had called me last night and wanted to meet with me today to discuss some things. So after my class I walked over to Hotard to talk to her (plus I had to go sell a textbook too).

Unfortunately, I was nowhere near ready for what Tia was about to tell me. As the university continues to make budget cuts, Tia realized that her position with Access was only temporary as she was only extending her contract for as long as she possibly could and at any minute she could be cut from Access. She decided that it would be best for her to start applying for another job elsewhere. Thankfully, she got a job in the Leadership Organization Dept. in Koldus, but in order to start that job her last day with Access is Septebmer 17th. Which means Alvarado and Madison won't have Tia to go to if they need anything, and they will instead report to Arthur and Jenny. I was able to stop the waterworks but I teared up a little. I will miss her terribly, as she has been my boss for almost 2 years now.

After that, things just kinda went downhill. I went to my last class and just sat there, as exciting as the grad student was making it I couldn't quite focus on what she was saying. And of course she told the mentors at our meeting tonight. I don't know what is going to happen to Access as the year progresses. But I do know that this is turning out to be one of the saddest semesters I've ever had and I thought senior year was supposed to be fun and exciting. Maybe it will get better.

My Life in Less Than a Minute

Okay, I know I needed to update forever and ever ago and I totally forgot to since I've been insanely busy and I'll keep it short since I'm busy today too getting things together for the first day of class tomorrow.

1. the camping trip with my mentors was awesome and everybody had a fantastic time!

2. Andrew and Erik got all moved in and I love their company.

3. I've been extremely exhausted the last week or so and today is my day to play catch-up.

4. Sammie arrived Wednesday night and she will be here until tomorrow :)

5. The freshmen retreat day was the longest ever. I was super happy when it was over.

6. I ORDERED MY AGGIE RING ON FRIDAY! Can't wait for November 12th!

7. I got a tattoo. Keep that on the down-low.

8. I dropped my sexuality class and picked up lifeguarding. We'll see how this goes.

9. I decided to rent my textbooks from Chegg instead of buying them and it saved me over $200, which is always good.

10. Tomorrow is the first day of class. Boooo.

And that's my life in less than a minute :)

Celebration and a Working Sensation

So this weekend I went to see the boy at home, and I cannot wait for him to get here on Thursday! I arrived in Houston early Friday night after a long day of work, and most of my time was spent attached to him or helping his family in the kitchen. We were preparing for a celebration for his brother! We were up until 1am getting food ready and packed, and the next morning was spent cooking things and packing up and setting up. Austin, who is about to be 17, received his Eagle Scout Award on Saturday, which is a huge accomplishment if you know what guys have to do to receive that (I have no clue but I know Andrew got his and so did my dad, many years ago). It was super exciting and I know his parents are extremely proud of him. Sadly, I had to leave Saturday night and come back to work Move-In day. Yay for all the new little fishies to be here! Things seem to be moving much faster than I want them to, between work and getting ready for classes to start. But I would rather them be moving fast than not at all.

This week is jam-packed full of things to do, starting with today. We have the Welcome Carnival, and after that the CCs are getting together to work on some stuff for the freshmen retreat. Tuesday and Wednesday I will be gone on a camping trip with my mentors for that outdoors bonding time. Also on Wednesday Sammie should be coming to visit! Thursday is the freshmen retreats all day long, and Andrew will be moving in! So between having a great weekend and working all week, I'm already worn out from it all. Oh, while I was in Houston my female guppy, Betty, decided to pop (she was getting huge!) and have a million babies. No joke, there are probably 20-30 baby guppies in that tank. I don't know what to do with them! Andrew says find homes for them or flush them. So if you want a few fish, holla at me.

And the best part of the week is FRIDAY when I get to order my ring!! I can't belive it is almost here! Eeeeeeeeek! I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it :)

Guess Who's Back

Back again. Shady's back. Tell a friend (and I know you read that in your awesome Eminem rapper voice). I've definitely noticed an increase in the population of people in the B/CS area. Yep, students are starting to come back for the start of a new semester. In the last two weeks I've had more people pull out in front of me and almost hit me than I did this entire summer. Crazy. And it's usually another woman driver. Which makes sense, most women are worse drivers. I was coming home from work on Monday and this older white lady flat out ran a stop sign, I didn't have to stop and I swerved and honked at her (she was driving a truck and it would have totaled my car) and of course, she was on her cell phone. Tuesday night I was headed home from a friend's apartment and I was on Wellborn about to take a left onto George Bush. I put my blinker on and this huge truck comes flying behind me just driving in the turn lane, like its a normal thing. So they were in front of me, no big deal right? Well, the truck turns and I turn right after them since nobody was coming. And then the truck who is maybe 3-4 feet away from me decides to swerve back into my lane after I had already turned (like in front of Aggieland Outfitters over there). I almost died. The next afternoon I went in to work for a few hours, and on my way down Texas this black girl pulls out from Lincoln (the street next to Best Buy) and tries to turn left. She stopped in my lane because there was oncoming traffic (not to mention I almost hit her because she pulled out in front of me) but was also sticking out in the oncoming lane. Stupid. Basically she got honked at (and almost hit) from both sides.

With all that being said, people here do NOT KNOW how to freakin drive! Apparently its like rocket science or something. And I also think the state of Texas should pass a law of no cell phones while driving. PERIOD. Or at least make them drive a standard vehicle for at least 5 years after getting their driver's licenses. Then you really have to pay attention to what you're doing.

Thanks for listening to me vent :)
