Let it Snow!

Texas doesn't get much snow except for during those weird years where every city gets some form of snow. And College Station finally got some this afternoon! Unfortunately I was in class until 2pm and it began snowing around 1:15, but it was wonderful. Sammie (the roomie), Andrew and I played in the snow for about an hour after Andrew got out of class, we built a snowman that got destroyed and had constant snowball fights. Later we had some more snow fun once Joseph (Sammie's fiance) got out of class, and that time we went out to my car and got every last bit of snow off my entire teeny tiny car. It was so cooooooooooooold my hands were freezing even with my gloves on. Oh yeah, I was extremely jealous since my hometown (Longview) had a whopping 7 inches of snow a few weeks ago, and it has not snowed that much since I was in 6th grade (so 9-10 years?) My mom sent me the most beautiful pictures of our house. Sammie has all of our snow pictures on her camera, so for now I will use my mom's because they are so BEAUTIFUL.

The backyard swingset and treehouse covered in snow! That treehouse has been around for almost 18 years!

Our house looks so warm and cozy covered in snow!

Did I mention that Megan skipped school the whole day to play in the snow? Silly administration, should have closed the school that day. Don't Megan and my mom look so cute with our Aggie snowman :) and that is one of my favorite scarves.

So no matter where you are, I hope that you have enjoyed some snow this year, and as for us Texans who don't see much snow, it was SO MUCH FUN.

Gowns, Tuxedos, and Cakes

Today was the Brazos Valley Bridal Show at the Expo Center. And since Sammie (my roommate) is engaged and I am the wonderful Maid of Honor, we spent quite a bit of time looking around. I think there were at least 100 vendors there getting their name and information out to all the brides-to-be. Sammie said she was so glad that I came since I asked the questions that she hadn't even thought about. And the cakes and catering ohmygoodness they were so delicious. I think my favorite though was Taste of Heaven or Cakes by Blondie (purely for the exquisite designs since I didn't try any of the cake). So now I am in the wedding mood, and Andrew and I haven't even been together for a year. Okay so we are at 10 months, 2 weeks and 4 days, but who's really counting?

Anyways, what I was trying to get to was with all this bridal stuff going on, I am suddenly in the mood for my own wedding. And I have no clue how far away that will be, but more than likely another 4 or 5 years :( but I suppose it is worth the wait.

On a much happier more exciting note, I gave Old Navy my two weeks notice yesterday! I am sick of them trying to get me to work when I have class or night exams or a ton of homework. I am here for school, not to have a job and work for them. And until they realize that, people will quit as soon as they have finished training. BUT I AM FREE FROM THEM AT LAST! Though I will miss the discounts to Old Navy, Gap, and Banana Republic.

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!

Before I go on about how much I enjoyed this past weekend, the part that touched me the most was not at dinner, but instead the college group Sunday school at Tallowood. Mrs. Shirley taught the lesson that covered Psalm 103. Recently in the church, there have been many college age students passing away and for many people that grew up at Tallowood, it was extremely difficult to cope with this loss. We read several different versions of Psalm 103, but they were all the same. There were several verses that really touched my heart, and as I write this I start to reflect once again on my life and it saddens me to know that sometimes I haven't been living as an example of God. Just to give an overview, David wrote about how God "forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases" (v. 3), he is "compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love" (v. 8). "He will not always accuse nor will he harbor his anger forever, he does not treat us as our sins deserve" (v. 9-10), "for as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west..." (v. 11-12). All of these verses are from the NIV. I am so thankful that God is all of these things, because without him, I would already be dead and rotting in the deepest pits of Hell.

To recap on the rest of the weekend, Friday night was very relaxing as Andrew and I did absolutely nothing but drove to Houston. All day Saturday he was busy refereeing with the first graders, and I spent the day at home with his mom, I studied while she baked some cookies. Mind you, she didn't have her normal recipe and these cookies weren't terrible but nowhere near how good she can bake cookies. I had become extremely upset because Andrew had decided that rather than the two of us go out for a nice dinner, he wanted to give his money to his parents so they could do the same. In the end, Andrew took me to Praderia, a delicious Brazilian steakhouse that was absolutely amazing! After dinner, we met his brother Austin and his date Mary Helen (who is one of the sweetest, most laid-back girls I have EVER met) at Marble Slab for some ice cream. The evening ended on a wonderful note, minus the fact that I had an insane sugar rush from the ice cream and acted like a total goober in front of Mary Helen and Austin. Oh well...Austin said it wasn't a big deal (I hope not). Oh, Sunday afternoon Andrew and I had our second intramural basketball game, which we won, so that makes us 2-0 UNDEFEATED! I am seriously out of shape. But I am getting back into shape, slowly but surely.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Valentine's Day and a wonderful week! I had one exam today, and I have two tomorrow. Time to get back to studying. uuuugggggghhhhhhhhh.

Wishing for Springtime

So while everybody is getting snow, we get dreary rain that makes me feel blue. So to cheer myself up, I decided to do some online shopping! When I was home this weekend Megan and my mom both showed me their cute new clothes that they bought at Forever 21 and I was absolutely jealous. Why don't I ever have time or money to go shopping and find adorable clothes?? Oh yeah, I'm a poor stressed out college student. But who cares. I found some cute stuff that I absolutely love from the one place I can get my long dress pants from. I am totally and completely addicted to Alloy.com. I loooooooooooove it! They just recently released the spring preview and there are SO many things I want to buy. Guess I'll just have to settle for a few cute pieces.....

This one is absolutely perfect for nearly any occasion, and I love the ruffles!

And don't forget the skirt that goes with it

I am dying to have this dress!

And last but not least, this shirt would go perfectly with my hair and my skin tone!

So what do you think? See anything that tickles your fancy?

Warm Fuzzies

So I'm not exactly sure what has changed or gotten better in my life, but since the beginning of the semester everyone around me has noticed a change in my demeanor. I am always cheerful and smiling, and I have been saying Howdy to nearly every person I see that looks back at me when I'm walking around campus. Maybe it is because I have looked at my priorities in life and gotten a few things straight like they should have been all along. I was ecstatic when Andrew came back from Colorado on Tuesday (he had a funeral to attend on Monday) because I hadn't seen him since Friday evening. Even when I call my mom, she is always telling me how upbeat and positive I sound about everything. The other night Sammie was telling me how her friend Amanda got engaged, and then we got on the subject of all things wedding. The only bad part I have had this whole entire week is the fact that Old Navy finally hunted me down and put me on the schedule for work. I'm not sure how I can handle 17 hours and 2 jobs all at the same time. Oh well. Things are definitely looking on the up and up! Plus, tomorrow is my mom's birthday and Megan and I have the most wonderful, amazing, super surprise she could ever ask for (or at least Megan and I think so). There will be lots of laughs, love, and smiles all around.
