Finally Done Traveling

Hello friends! I'm finally back from traveling around the world! Okay, not really the whole world but you know what I mean. New York was unbelievably amazing and I loved every second but I don't think I would want to live there for long. I promise I will post pictures as soon as I go through the 558 pictures that I took. In addition to the trip, I got to spend quite a bit of time with Andrew. After getting back Thursday evening, I joined him and his college church group at the Kemah boardwalk, which was certainly not as exciting as I thought it would be.

On Friday, I was a bum and did nothing until we needed to leave for a wedding in College Station (one of Andrew's aerospace engineering friends) and it was lovely! I was so happy to finally be able to meet a few of Andrew's friends and the people he spends all his time with in the aero lab. Saturday was really exciting as it was Audrey's (Andrew's brother's--Austin--girlfriend) graduation! I am thrilled to say that she will be going to Blinn next year and I am ecstatic that we will be able to hang out so much more cause she is such a sweet girl! Plus most of my friends have graduated and I have no idea what I'm going to do without them. I'm also beyond excited that Megan will be so close too!! Super exciting! Sunday was the same as any other Sunday, except that Megan and I headed to Lake Charles (Louisiana) to visit some family (same family that went to NY with us) and we had a blast! Sunday night we went to see Bridesmaids which was HILARIOUS! On Monday we took their boat out and had a blast plus I think I was finally able to get a start on my summer tan! Hooray! We finally came back today and it feels wonderful to not have to go anywhere.

This week should be pretty relaxing, but I have quite a few things to get done. I should start OT shadowing this week, and I'm chopping off my hair on SATURDAY!! I can't believe its almost here. I might be having second thoughts. Or at least I can't decide how to have my hair done (layers or one length?) Plus I'm still debating on if I should find a summer job with everything I've got going on this summer. I'll keep you posted and pictures of everything will be coming soon!

Big Vacation to the Big Apple

So a few weeks ago I put up this post which had a list of upcoming dates and everything that was going on in my life. The most exciting thing on that post is the NEW YORK TRIP! I am super excited to be going there along with my sister, mom, aunt, and one of my cousins! They are currently on an airplane headed to NY but since Erik and Shala have their wedding tomorrow, I will be flying out early Sunday morning to join them.

A few things we will be seeing on our trip:
  • Statue of Liberty
  • Central Park
  • The Guggenheim (I think I spelled that wrong?)
  • Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • Ground Zero
  • Fifth Avenue
  • possibly the Yankees Stadium
  • some giant cathedral (I can't remember the name)
  • lots of other places - maybe Little Italy & Chinatown just to name a few
I am so excited! I will be taking thousands of pictures!! And I'll be back on Thursday!

Another Year Gone By

In case you didn't know my birthday was this past Friday, and it was a really busy day. I was supposed to be out of my apartment by 5pm Friday or 7am Saturday, and I figured I might as well just go ahead and get the heck outta there. Being around CS while all of my friends graduate was not cool or fun. But I suppose I can't complain too much.

**PS I started writing this on Monday and it is currently Thursday night/early Friday morning. Sorry everyone!

Thursday night we (being me, Megan, Andrew, Blake, Erik, and his brother Andrew) went out to Ozona for dinner and I was quite surprised at how tasty it was! The rest of the evening I packed which sucked. After moving out of my apartment and driving home and unloading EVERYTHING we had cake at my dad's house and then another cake at my mom's house about an hour or so later. Unfortunately that was the extent of my birthday celebrations.

Anyways, 21 was a big year for me. First off, finally legal! Second, I moved into my first apartment! School remained the same, and it still is. I finally got my Aggie ring in November! The Aggies played LSU at the Cowboys Stadium (and got spanked) but it was awesome to see the stadium. Andrew and I celebrated 2 years together in April and shortly after that andrew got his Aggie ring. And now I'm here at 22 years of age. How time flies. I would post pictures of all of these events but I'm in Houston and didn't bring my laptop with me. Maybe next year?

The next few weeks will be extremely busy for me. Tomorrow is the rehearsal & dinner for Erik and Shala's wedding and then the wedding is on Saturday afternoon! Hopefully I will be able to take tons of pictures, but with being in the wedding party I'm not sure how that will work exactly.

Coffee Makes Me Sick

Words cannot express how tired I am feeling right now. I have a final at 8am that I studied all day yesterday for but I still don't feel prepared hence why I'm awake so early. This whole 4-5 hrs of sleep for the last few weeks ain't workin out. Thankfully I only have one more final after this. However, both finals (today and tomorrow) will determine what grade I make in the class, and I would love to have B's rather than C's or at least one. Gotta make it happen!

Even though I'm exhausted, I have no way to wake myself up. Energy drinks do nothing, caffeine doesn't keep me awake, coffee makes me sick to my stomach and gives me jitters, and hot tea just doesn't cut it. Any suggestions on what you do for your morning fix to keep your eyes open?

I managed to stay awake until now (it is 4pm) and my final this morning was a piece of cake! I totally rocked it :)

Hey Chicken, You're Awesome

The trip to Houston for the weekend was a success! Granted Andrew had so much work to finish so we didn't leave CS until about 10 and I was slightly grumpy about that. Freebirds for dinner made it a little better. Oddly enough when we got to Andrew's house his family was still awake. I think everyone stayed up a little too late because we were all tired the next morning. Austin's HCYA (Homeschool Christian Youth Association, better known as heck yeah or hey chicken you're awesome) graduation was held at a HUGE church in Houston, and the gentleman that gave the speech for it was extremely boring. I didn't understand any of it, and I still don't. Maybe it's because he enjoys giving lectures (since he is a professor. ugh) and always manages to make people sleepy. The ceremony lasted not quite three hours, and it was waaaaaay different than my high school graduation...that's home school for ya! Afterwards, they had a reception room set up and served punch, cake, fruit, cheese, and crackers. It was so nice! After the reception, we all went out for lunch at Saltgrass. Now I've never been there, Megan is obsessed with it, and I must say that I wasn't that impressed. The salad was delicious, but the steak was not. Andrew's steak was much better than mine, and that made it better :) the rest of the afternoon/evening was spent napping and studying.

Sunday was Mother's Day, and even though I couldn't be with my mom, I got to spend time with Andrew's mom. She has been so sweet and she did such a good job raising Andrew to be a gentleman! Well, most of the time at least. His family now has a running joke talking about "what I see in this guy" and "why I started dating him" because there are things he does in front of me that his family doesn't approve of (like talking about having to go poop) and they enjoy teasing him and Andrew's mom apologized and said that she "tried her best but some things just don't work out" and Austin said that Andrew is "a reeeeeeally slow learner". I love his family so much :)

I have two finals left, and I have to be out of my apartment on Friday. 4 DAYS UNTIL MY BIRTHDAY!

April Showers Bring....

May flowers and MY BIRTHDAY MONTH! My birthday is exactly one week from today. Can you believe I'm going to be 22? It sounds strange. But its just another year gaining wisdom and growing up! I feel like it has been forever since my last update. OK, it really has. But there has been so much going on that I have to tell you about!!

About half of the stuff on my list from my last post is done, but here's what I have left:

Tomorrow - Austin's high school graduation
May 11 - end of finals
May 13 - MY BIRTHDAY! (and the day I have to move out of my apartment)
May 14 - graduation
May 16 - Aggie Mom's Club meeting
May 21 - Erik & Shala's wedding
May 22-26 - New York Trip!
June 4 - the day I'm chopping off my hair & donating it to Locks of Love
June 11 - Ashley & Phillip's wedding
June 17 - UTMB visit

First off, Andrew's Ring Day! He finally got his ring around 7pm, and of course all of his family was there. And he dunked his ring in beer, but ate so much for dinner that he didn't have enough room in his stomach to even drink half of his pitcher. So. It took him about 2 and a half minutes, and over half of it immediately came back up. Gross.

Super excited to have his ring!

Starting to drink....

Happy to be finished! Erik's goal (and maybe mine too) was to get Andrew slightly drunk off this pitcher since he's never been drunk, but unfortunately that didn't happen. And his parents DID NOT APPROVE of the beer dunking. Wuups.

Easter (which feels like forever ago) was extremely busy! The Wednesday before Easter I left College Station early and drove to Dallas to meet my sister and cousin. We drove all the way to Chickasha, Oklahoma and then to Fort Sill (Lawton) OK, to visit my other cousin and watch him graduate from basic. It was the longest driving trip of my life. The round trip tallied about 1300 miles. But it was totally worth it!

This was on the drive there, Megan got a little bored and decided to whip her hair and dance in the car :)

Ben, Megan, Seth, me, and Seth's girlfriend Devon. Aren't we so cute?

One last picture with Seth before we left. The next morning he flew out to Virginia for AIT and he will be there for 9 weeks. Megan and I are considering making a trip to Wilmington (North Carolina) and get close to Virginia haha.

So we left Oklahoma on Friday, and drove back to Dallas and then home. And of course then it was time to celebrate Easter with the fam! Sunday morning Megan and I went to church with Dad, and had lunch with Mom. Even though the weekend was super short and really busy, I had a fabulous time.

Love my mommy :) she's so cute

Obligatory sister picture. I think we took about 7 or 8 pictures, and you can see more on Facebook (if you haven't already)

The weekend after Easter was Ring Dance! So much fun! I was super excited to wear my new dress (that actually slightly drags the ground) and see Andrew in a suit. Sammie and Shala both stayed with me, and all day Saturday was spent getting ready. Sammie and I did each other's hair, and I have found the most amazing hairspray ever. Its made by Bed Head, y'know, for those folks that have straight-as-a-board hair and can never hold curl. My hair stayed gorgeous all night long (big thanks to Sammie for that)! The dance is normally at the MSC, but since it is under construction it was held at the Hilton. At first I was very disappointed and underwhelmed, but the people I was with made it unforgettable and fantastic! I ordered professional pictures, and those should be coming to my house in the near future. I saw several people there that I hadn't seen in at least a year, and some people that I hadn't seen since high school. Crazy, right??!!

This may just be my favorite picture of Andrew & I to this day! ♥ Maybe it's because he's standing on a taller step that I am and I really like the way it looks haha. Is it bad if I wish Andrew was taller?

Infamous pictures under the ring by the Alumni Center. The very bottom of my dress has an extra 5ish inches of silky black fabric to make it longer

Best friends from college :)

Oh yes. We're definitely best friends :)

This week has been pretty relaxing. Monday night was the last community event for my freshmen, and very few kids showed up but it was great anyways! Tuesday night was the end of year banquet for work, and dinner was delicious! Today I was productive and finally filled out Ashley & Phillip's RSVP invite, it had just been sitting on my desk all week. Plus I found out that some other ladies (who I haven't seen in awhile) will be attending the wedding. YAY!

Finals started today. Boo. I had one final today, and I have two left. Then it will be my birthday! Wooo! Andrew and I will be leaving in the next hour or so to head to Houston for his brother's graduation (which is tomorrow). It seems like he has grown up so much from the first time I met him. When I met him, he had a curly afro, was about as tall as me, had bad acne, and braces. And now he has a buzz cut, is as tall as Andrew, and has no more acne or braces. He has grown into a handsome young man!

If you have read this far, congratulations! Whew. That was a whole lot.
