Sometimes & Always

Hi friends! These last few days have been super stressful and busy, but I am almost done moving! Yesterday morning was a disaster, I hadn't unpacked anything and getting ready for work was nearly impossible. But somehow I managed. Anyways, today I'm linking up for the first time with Megan over at Mackey Madness! Let's get started!

Sometimes: I really don't like going to the gym :(
Always: I feel so much better after a workout and my friends/coworkers can tell that I'm slimming down!

Sometimes: My boyfriend and I argue about the tiny things in life
Always: We've never had a knock-down, drag-out fight

Sometimes: I miss my long hair like crazy
Always: I keep thinking that I will grow it back out!

Please ignore how awful I look. Post football game pictures are not pretty. I cut my hair about 8 months later, so it was even longer than this! I think the final measurement of my hair was 28 inches.
Right after my haircut!
Sometimes: I eat an entire pint of Blue Bell by myself
Always: I feel guilty afterwards

Sometimes: Work really drags by with two of my bosses out of the office for the next week
Always: I have time to update my blog at work if I'm not busy!

Sometimes: My life feels like it moves a million miles an hour
Always: I try to slow down and enjoy the present

Sometimes: I really wish I knew where my life is headed
Always: God will provide!!

Hope y'all enjoyed my first Sometimes and Always! Now go link up with Megan!

What's Up with GFC?

Today has been a reeeeeally long day. On top of the crazy work day that I had, I managed to break our printer and then cause it to run out of staples. The entire process to fix it took about an hour, and without my old boss in the office (me on my own) things have been nuts. But I'm surviving and not screwing it up!! Yay!

Anyways, on to the reason for my unusual blog title (and the main reason for this post lol). Google Friend Connect, which I use to follow other blogs, has apparently stopped working for me....? When I try to "join this site" rather than my Blogger profile showing up when I am signed in, GFC shows up as a blank profile and my name and picture don't show up either. There are two super cute blogs that I found today. One of them is my latest follower, Kat over at Mom Uncensored, and The Pike Fam, which I found via Pinterest from a friend's board. I'm dying to follow both of them, but GFC won't let me. I haven't changed any of my settings either, so I'm wondering if there is a glitch with Google.

Is anybody else having this problem?!?!?! Please tell me I'm not the only one!!

Oh, and TOMORROW IS FRIDAY :) obviously! I'll be spending the weekend packing and moving out of my current place and moving in with my ex-stepmom. Long story, I'll explain it sometime next week!

Another Door May Close..

Happy Friday, bloggy friends! I am so thrilled that the weekend is almost here, but not looking forward to packing and moving my stuff.

Today I got more unfortunate news. A few weeks ago I applied for a job as an administrative assistant. I figured that I would be a good fit because I had been working as his assistant since the end of April. His last day was Friday the 13th, and I have been doing some of his work (the stuff I have access to) and keeping things together until they hire a new assistant. Yesterday I noticed that they brought someone in for an interview, and they brought another person in this morning. So before I went on my lunch break I asked the head boss lady where I stood in the application process. She told me that I was in the pool, meaning that I'm not the top candidate and I need more experience.

How am I supposed to get more experience if nobody hires me?!?! Maybe everyone will turn the position down and I'll get the job :) but that's pretty doubtful. So on to more job applications...perhaps.

Have a fabulous weekend!

It's OK Thursday

Today I'm linking up with "It's OK" Thursdays!

Its Ok Thursdays

Here we are at Thursday again...I can't believe that the third week of July is almost over (yay for Friday) and that I'll be moving to my new place between now and August 1st. Seems like yesterday I was celebrating graduation and my birthday and starting my new job and now everything is changing and I'm not sure that I want it to change just yet. So without further ado...

It's Ok....

....that I got to work earlier than usual to impress my boss. My job is currently temporary but I did apply for the permanent job and I really hope this helps!

....that I'm just now getting to reading The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. The first book came out as a movie back in December, and I already had the books but I never picked them up until I saw movie previews. And it doesn't help that I put those books on hold to read The Hunger Games. Both are such good trilogies!

....to watch my weight constantly go up and down. I'm on a good workout and diet routine, but I can't seem to kick that fat into gear and really burn it! (2 weeks ago I had lost 3 pounds, picked it back up last week, and yesterday I'm 3 pounds down again)

....to be at work with absolutely nothing to do. It's strange without my boss here anymore :(

....to look at my bedroom and realize that I may be scrambling to get all my things packed and moved. I know what I'll be doing this weekend!

....to wish that I had more followers and more likes on my Facebook blog page. One day!

....to already be thinking about weddings and babies, which doesn't happen too often. I'm only 23 and Andrew & I have been together for about 3 and a half years, but so many of my friends are on baby #3 or #4 and been married for a year or more. Guess that's what happens after you graduate from college!

....to wish that I had a fancy camera so that someone would take a picture of how cute I feel today! Seriously. My first pair of skinny jeans arrived yesterday and I may be in love. Perhaps one of my coworkers will take my photo for all of you to see my new stylish ways!

I loved this! You should link up too! And I am so excited that tomorrow is Friday!

Blogger 411

Hi friends! Today I'm linking up with From Mrs. to Mama so that you can get the 411 on me! This is my first link-up ever, and I am so excited!

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed? I've been blogging since I was 15. I stopped for a short while when I was in college, but I picked it back up two and a half years ago. I got started because there was nothing else to do in my small town, and it was a fun way to keep in touch with my friends.

2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?

Fabulous Texas A&M

I just graduated in May with my Bachelor's of Science in Health. Originally I wanted to get my Master's in Occupational therapy, but since I didn't get in, I'm looking at other alternatives (like working with college students----LOVE!)

3. Where have you traveled? I feel like I've been all over, but in reality I probably haven't. In the US: TX(duh), LA, MS, AL, FL, GA, NC, TN, AR, CA, CO, NY, and Washington, D.C. Outside the US: Cozumel, Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas.

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy? I wouldn't buy anything until I had paid off my loans, and then I would buy either new clothes or a Chevrolet Stingray for Andrew.

5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves? Number one is the direction of toilet paper on the roll. IT has to go OVER, not under. Number two is when people confuse your/you're and their/there/they're. Proper grammar is not difficult! Number three is trying to find clothes long enough...I mean really?! I'm only 6'4'', but it is impossible to find anything!

6. What is your favorite movie? I never have the same answer for this question, so right now my favorite movie is Brave. And the Avengers is really great too.

7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea? I really enjoy some liquor on occasion, I love my tea extra sweet (like Chicken Express sweet), and I drink at least 6 glasses of water while I'm at work. But if I could only have one for the rest of my life, it would be sweet tea.

8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time? I love bubble baths and I spend most of my spare time reading books. Yesterday I finished The Girl Who Played With Fire and tonight I'll start on the 3rd and final book of the trilogy, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be? Pretty sure I'd have to split it between Target, The Buckle and Long Tall Sally (European store that makes clothes for tall gals!). Being tall has perks at times, but when it comes to finding clothes I would wish to be short in a heartbeat.

10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present. So when I was in high school I was running late for basketball practice. When you are late, you have to run extra laps and extra stadiums. We had a tournament the next day, and since we were the host school we were required to dress up. I was wearing a skirt, heels, and a shirt that I absolutely hated. I was trying to zoom down the stairs at the front of the building (which of course is the most crowded stairwell) and tripped over my feet, tumbled down the rest of the stairs, and managed to flash some people my cute VS panties in the process. I was mortified. On top of that, I somehow twisted my ankle and was late for practice anyways. Worst day of high school ever.

11. What day would you love to relive again? I would love to go back to graduation day. It was all a blur, and it's only been two months since then. And celebrate my birthday a little more with my family (my birthday was the day after graduation, which was also Mother's Day).

12. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you? I have no idea!

13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years? My first job ever was at TJ Maxx, Old Navy, and I currently work as an office assistant for an on-campus learning community.

14. Show us a picture from high school or college.

Preparing to go to my first Aggie Football game with my younger sister. Precious!
15. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go? I really want to travel all around Europe, and one day I will! There are so many beautiful things I want to see around the world, and I can't wait to do it all! I would definitely have to go to the Netherlands, because my great uncle who fought & died in WWII is buried there.

16. Show us the most current picture of you, or your family, or anything of meaning to you. I can't just pick one photo, so here's two!

Andrew and me at Ring Dance 2012 (basically like prom but more sophisticated)

Family after graduation! Lindsey, my sister Megan, Ross, me, and Elizabeth

 17. Where do you see your life 5 years from now? I hope to be settled down somewhere with Andrew, and as long as I have him and my family in my life, I will be the happiest girl in the world.

This was such a fun link-up! If you would like to join, you can go to here and join!

Best Bread Ever

Yes, you see that correctly. College Station is getting a Panera Bread and I am beyond excited! In the 5 years that I've been living here, it is unbelievable to see how much this city has grown. There are stores and restaurants popping up that I've never even heard of (yay for small southern towns!). Panera should be open before too much longer, and it will even have a drive-thru, which is the first in Texas EVER.

SO EXCITED FOR BREAD!

On a non-food/eating note, I gained those three pounds back that I thought I had lost :( but everyone is saying that I'm gaining muscle then once that's around I'll burn more fat. Not to mention the fact that I feel better, minus being sore and exhausted from every day...we'll see what happens.

And I Thought I Was Tall

How crazy is this??
For awhile I thought that Andrew and I might have a chance at being one of the tallest couples in the world, but they blow us out by a combined SIX inches. Although if this were the world's tallest family, I'm pretty sure my family could give some people a run for their money!

Good News All Around

Rather than stalling and blabbing about things that have been going on this week, I'm just going to tell you all of my good news!

First, as of Saturday morning I have lost THREE pounds! I started using an app called MyFitnessPal, and you can track what you eat, as well as how much exercise you get and other things too. You set goals for yourself (like the weight I want to be at) and after each day is over you can submit your info for the day and then it guesstimates how much you would weigh in 5 weeks if "every day were like today". So far I'm off to a good start!

Next, I talked to an academic advisor about a position I applied for. Out of the 45 applicants they had, I made it to the top 10, but I still don't know if I will get an interview or not...so I get to wait a little bit longer. But hooray for making it that far in the application process!

Third, I have been going to the gym nearly every single day. Saturday I went to boot camp, it was intense as always, Mondays & Wednesdays I go to cycling for an hour, Tuesdays I go to kickboxing, and Thursdays I go to Zumba. This week has been especially hard because I haven't taken a single break each day. I am SO SORE. But like they say, no pain, no gain!

Last, my sister is coming to visit this weekend! It's going to be a really short weekend because she has to work Saturday but she will be here TONIGHT and I am so excited to see her! We haven't seen each other since Memorial Day. That's way too long for sisters to be separated. The next few days are going to be quite fabulous!

Celebrating our Independence

Andrew and I had a wonderful 4th of July, starting with the drive to Houston the evening before. Even the weenies and Alan joined us for the trip! Tuesday night after we arrived we did absolutely nothing but visit and catch up with everybody. Wednesday was quite lovely, I got to sleep in a little bit then fell back asleep on the couch after taking care of the dogs. Alissa and I helped Mrs. Tucker in the kitchen--we made a blueberry crisp and a fruit tart, both of which were delicious--and we prepared everything for a family lunch. There was lots of laughing at the table! After lunch we played several rounds of Bananagrams, then switched gears and played In a Pickle (which I have never played but it was really fun!) because Andrew doesn't care for word games. The afternoon included another nap on the couch, grilled hot dogs and s'mores were for dinner, and the neighborhood fireworks show concluded our evening. Unfortunately, we had to make the drive back to College Station, and I fell asleep shortly after getting on the road.

All in all it was a wonderful 4th of July, and it could have only been better if I had been with my family!

Happy Independence Day, America!

Macy's Love

I cannot believe it is the second day of July already. Where is summer going???!

This weekend went by really fast, but it was a fabulous weekend! Friday night was a little boring, but Andrew and I spent some time together which is always nice. Saturday was really busy because my mom came to visit for the weekend. It was so wonderful to see her! We hit up the sales at Macy's, and I tried on at least thirty tops. Over half of them barely covered up my belly button....what is happening to all the tops in the world getting shorter and shorter?! Anyways, I got lucky and managed to score 5 or 6 tops for just over $100 and I am so thrilled to wear them ASAP. I'm even wearing one today (maybe I'll take a picture later) and it is the most comfortable shirt I've worn in awhile. Saturday evening my mom took Andrew, Alan, Austin and me out for dinner to Cracker Barrel. So delicious to end a wonderful day! Sunday morning involved going to church, lunching at Fish Daddy's--my mom's fresh salmon was amazing--and relaxing on the couch while watching tv. It was quite fabulous :)

This week is going to be a little uneventful, with the exception of Wednesday being the 4th and Andrew and I both have the day off. Day trip to Houston!! Yay! And the 4th happens to be our 3 years & 3 months anniversary, but who's counting ;-)

Also, I think I found my new favorite project on Pinterest, but it requires a sewing machine....we'll see what happens!
