We Remember Them

It was Judgment Day in Aggieland
And tenseness filled the air;
All knew there was a trip at hand,
But not a soul knew where.

Assembled on the drill field
Was the world-renowned Twelfth Man,
The entire fighting Aggie team
And the famous Aggie Band.

And out in front with Royal Guard
The reviewing party stood;
St. Peter and his angel staff
Were choosing bad from good.

First he surveyed the Aggie team
And in terms of an angel swore,
"By Jove, I do believe I've seen
This gallant group before.

I've seen them play since way back when,
And they've always had the grit;
I've seen 'em lose and I've seen 'em win
But I've never seen 'em quit.

No need for us to tarry here
Deciding upon their fates;
Tis plain as the halo on my head
That they've opened Heaven's gates."

And when the Twelfth Man heard this,
They let out a mighty yell
That echoed clear to Heaven
And shook the gates of Hell.

"And what group is this upon the side,"
St. Peter asked his aide,
"That swelled as if to burst with pride
When we our judgment made?"

"Why, sir, that's the Cadet Corps
That's known both far and wide
For backing up their fighting team
Whether they won lost or tied."

"Well, then," said St. Peter,
"It's very plain to me
That within the realms of Heaven
They should spend eternity.

And have the Texas Aggie Band
At once commence to play
For their fates too we must decide
Upon this crucial day."

And the drum major so hearing
Slowly raised his hand
And said, "Boys, let's play The Spirit
For the last time in Aggieland."

And the band poured forth the anthem,
In notes both bright and clear
And ten thousand Aggie voices
Sang the song they hold so dear.

And when the band had finished,
St. Peter wiped his eyes
And said, "It's not so hard to see
They're meant for Paradise."

And the colonel of the Cadet Corps said
As he stiffly took his stand,
"It's just another Corps Trip, boys,
We'll march in behind the band."

Where Have You Been All This Time???

Hey sweet readers! I can't believe it's been so long since my last post. But I promise I'll be back soon.
In the meantime, I thought I would fill you in on the major details happening right now.

- My mom and I made a 3 day trip to Nebraska in order to find me & my roommate a place to live. It was exhausting but I found a place!

- I found out one of my weenies has cancer, but she's all fixed up and on the mend thankfully

- A day trip to Houston so I could catch up with some cousins. We laughed all day long and it was so relaxing!

- I threw myself a goodbye party since I'm about to move to Omaha {I am moving THIS Saturday, eek!}

- Took a trip home with my sister so I could spend some of my last free time with my mom & dad, and the grandparents

- The parentals bought me a new printer and a new KitchenAid mixer for my home! AHH! And I bought some other stuff too :)

- I took out a ton of money in student loans, and this is just the beginning!

- Managed to finish my online class today, hopefully I passed the final

Tomorrow I start packing up the few things I have left in my room, and then I can pick up the U-Haul truck sometime on Friday morning. I spent part of today getting everything ready in Nebraska (like the electricity, water, gas, internet, all that good stuff!) and took a well-deserved nap!

Then I'll hit the road Saturday morning.
Sometimes I can't believe this is really happening, but it is.

And I'm so excited to see what the future holds.

All I Did Was Eat This Weekend

These last few days off from work have been great--and then reality slapped me in the face today.
Oh well.

Time to link up with some lovelies for Weekend Shenanigans!

one. showing off the 4th of July t-shirt that I made!
two. Chinese American dessert--it had shaved ice with sweetened condensed milk, chocolate syrup, strawberries, bananas, and a scoop of chocolate ice cream.
three. watching fireworks with Andrew
four, five, & six. I attempted to make a poke cake for Andrew's mom (tomorrow is her birthday) and it actually came out really good!
seven. wedding festivities for a sweet friend
eight. gifts for Andrew's mom
nine. showing off my latest purchase from Long Tall Sally. I got so many compliments--all from people I didn't know!

We ate so much food. All weekend long we were eating, or snacking on something. It was mostly healthy stuff so I don't feel bad about it. I do feel slightly bad for not doing hardly any homework--but oh well!

Guess I'll get back to work...Come back for a sweet tutorial tomorrow!

It's Like Friday Only Better

It's Hump Day!
And it's like Friday.

I don't really have any plans for the 4th of July, but I did make that shirt I was talking about on Monday. I think it turned out really well, but we'll have to see how it looks on me!

Happy 4th of July y'all!

Already July?!?!

Happy Monday y'all! It's a short week for me and I hope it is for y'all too!

I did nothing this weekend besides some shopping, house cleaning, and laundry. And homework. Yuck. Sadly, I had to work all day Friday--but I went to a party Friday night thanks to one of my coworkers and had a blast! They had set up a giant kiddie pool and a slip-n-slide in the backyard and even had a margarita competition! The favorite margarita was watermelon flavored, super delicious!

Saturday I spent the day with my sister shopping. I ended up going home empty handed, and my wallet is thankful for that! Saturday night I went out to BJ's Brewhouse with Andrew, Austin, and Megan. We laughed so much :) we even ordered a pizookie--red velvet and oreo. It was amazing.

All I did on Sunday was my homework--I'm trying to get ahead with the holiday coming up--and I procrastinated by cleaning the house and doing laundry. Eventually I got my work done. And I'm really sad that I don't get Showtime so I can't watch Dexter at home :(

Last night I could NOT get to sleep. I ended staying up half the night because I was puking my guts out. Miraculously I'm at work today, mostly because I couldn't call in sick. I'm just ready for today to be over and it's barely even started.

Over the weekend I also decided I want to make my own 4th of July shirt. Pinterest has a ton of ideas and I'm sure whatever I end up doing I'll take plenty of pictures!

Honey You're My Golden Star

Happy Friday readers!

I'm at work today, and these last few days have been crazy packed with a million and one things going on--like training new employees and rushing through my online class--not to mention the usual cooking & cleaning every single night now that I have nights off.

Don't forget that Google Reader is going away soon, so make sure you follow me on Bloglovin'!

I got invited to a super awesome party tonight by one of my coworkers involving a slip-n-slide, a kiddie pool, and lots of DRANKS. I can't wait!

My latest song obsession.

On Top of my A-Game

I'm feeling super productive today y'all!
Okay, more like I was productive last night, but it's almost the same.

My sister had dinner nearly ready by the time I got home from work, so that was one less thing for me to worry about. Then I went to the grocery store to get a few extra things for dinner this week. On top of that, I got my homework done and I also watched the Stanley Cup Final game.

Even after that, I did some preparation for dinner tonight. And on the menu is Crockpot BBQ Chicken! With some baked beans and potato salad of course. I'm trying out a recipe from Six Sister's Stuff, but I didn't have all the ingredients the recipe called for. We'll see how it goes, and if it's yummy enough I'll share pictures with everyone!

I'm definitely feeling on top of my A-game right now!
If only I could get motivated for doing today's homework...and to get back to the gym...ooof.

And because it's #TallTuesday... (go follow me on Twitter!)

Quick Update

Happy Monday readers!
And a huge welcome to all my new readers! Good luck with all the giveaways!

My weekend was super uneventful except for a cookout & pool party I went to Friday evening thanks to one of my friends! Unfortunately, I left early because I had to work on Saturday. Right now I can't even remember what I did Saturday night, how sad. I spent Sunday doing laundry and homework. Needless to say, as boring as it was, it was pretty relaxing. No expectations or any real plans, I got to do what I wanted without anyone getting in my way!

This morning on my way to work I was having some car trouble, and I nearly had a heart attack. Turns out the freon recharge that Andrew did on my car was too much for my car to handle (he basically put too much freon in and was causing my vehicle to try to work 10 times harder than the norm.) and it led to a few problems...mostly the fact that my car almost died! But it's all better now that Andrew emptied some of the freon out, and my car blows really cold air, which is just what this Texas gal needs after a sunny day of her car baking in the parking lot at work.

As for tonight, I'm just watching the Stanley Cup Finals game while doing homework. At least I have a strawberry daiquiri to keep me company!

Enjoy your night and be thankful that we've survived another Monday!

Hump Day

I've been obsessed with this video since I saw it Sunday night. I was going to have a real blog post today, but right now I'm too tired to do anything. Not to mention work has been crazy, plus I'm trying to knock out my online class before the August 1st deadline that was set for me.

But because it's Wednesday, this video makes things a thousand times better! Enjoy!

Gone on Vacation

Hey readers! These last few days since returning from Oklahoma have been a blur! I've been swamped with getting my ducks in a row to move to Omaha, and my family is on vacation this week in the Hill Country! So unfortunately you won't get another update from me until Monday or Tuesday, but know that I'm having a blast with my family...and loving not working!

If you really need me, you know how to find me :)

Have You Read This?

Y'all, I tried so hard to get into this book. It just didn't happen for me.
I read over 100 pages and still wasn't intrigued.
I had several people tell me that it is a great read and such a sweet story, but I just didn't like it.

Maybe I'll pick it back up in a few months (when I say pick it up I really mean let it sit on my shelf for years and forget what the story line is), but for now I'll read something else.

Have any of you read The Tiger's Wife?

P.S. I'm going to OKLAHOMA tomorrow for Corie's wedding! Hopefully I'll be back Monday with plenty of pictures. Happy early weekend!

Shopping Frenzy

Today has been cray cray at work.
Which is why I'm just now updating....oops.

I've been spending all my time at work "shopping" online for an apartment in Omaha.
Part of me is still in disbelief that I'm moving all the way to Nebraska.

I have no idea even where to I just kind of jumped in. I looked at different parts of town as well as places outside of the city--and I've figured out kind of but not really which parts are hella expensive and which places are shitty because they are so cheap. In case I haven't mentioned it, I have to be up there, unpacked & ready to start Monday, August 12. It's gonna be here before I know it!

And my other big decision I've been working on is trying to decide whether I should rent a U-Haul and haul all my junk important things with me [I mean furniture] or if I should sell everything while I'm still in Texas and buy all new stuff in Omaha. That sounds way more expensive to me. But I don't know because I've never EVER done something like this. It's crazy.

And I couldn't be more excited!

So readers, have any of you moved more than 500 miles away from home? What did you do?

Big Families Are The Best

Happy Monday readers!
Time for another weekend recap, this time with more photos than last week :)

My weekend started Thursday night when my sister and I went out for a friend's 21st birthday. We had no idea what was going on, so the two of us just went to one of my favorite bars and had a drink while we waited on the other people to get themselves together.

Left: before going out
Middle: Fish Bowl!
Right: my newest "selfie" that I'm obsessed with
I love it so much that it's now my new profile picture on Facebook and Twitter.

I had all day Friday off until my night job (5-9pm) and it was my last day working there. I am so happy to be done working nights, but now I feel like I'm going to do nothing but bum around the house. And maybe actually start going to the classes I love so much at the gym!

Before going to work, I packed my bags for the weekend to head to Galveston. My sister and I didn't get on the road until almost 10pm, which means we didn't get to Galveston until about 1:00am. Talk about the longest drive ever--parts of the interstate were shut down to one lane and there was so much traffic. Damn Houston!

So why did my sister & I go to Galveston? One of my cousins graduated from medical school this weekend! I have a huge family on my mom's side and we are all so close, almost like distant siblings or something. My aunt rented a Victorian home on the island for the weekend, and we partied hard as always!

Left: Riley, my aunt & uncle's Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, one of the sweetest dogs ever!
Middle: my cousin & her hubby after graduation
Right: the amazing house we stayed in.
Can you believe it's over 100 years old and has survived many hurricanes?

Sunday was pretty low key, we had to check out of the house and after that my sister & I went to Pearland to check out my cousin's new house! It's hard to believe that we are all growing up, graduating, buying houses, and living our lives [so cliche..]. Their house is gorgeous, and I can't wait to see how it looks once they get settled in!

All in all, it was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. I laughed so hard, got to take a few naps here and there, and I got to see my mom--I haven't seen her since Christmas. I love all of my cousins to death, and now that we are adults we are doing our own things in our lives but still staying together. It was such a great weekend and I didn't want it to end! Thankfully, we are all getting together again next weekend for our big family vacation and I am super excited about it :)

Monday work day is halfway over already! Hooray!

Linking up with these loves...

Today's post is short and sweet.

Remember that killer amazing unbelievable Occupational Therapy program I applied for and interviewed with a few weeks ago?

I almost can't believe it. They emailed me yesterday morning with the great news :) I posted it all over my Facebook & Twitter & IG.

Then last night at work I cried. Sad tears.

Because I'll be leaving Andrew behind.

Part of me doesn't want to go for this very reason.

So what do I do?

Memorial Day Weekend

Half of my weekend was horrible, and the other half was awesome!

If you didn't hear me complain on Twitter, I had to work all day Saturday. And there was drama with my coworkers. Definitely not fun being stuck at work together for nearly 10 hours. It was awkward.

Andrew & I went to Houston for the rest of the weekend after work. I did nothing besides some shopping [I found some real cute swimsuit bottoms! You can see it below] and I finally got to see Iron Man 3. And to celebrate Memorial Day, I sat on the couch all day. Andrew and I almost went down to Galveston to get some sun, but that didn't happen because we both knew we wouldn't want to deal with the traffic coming back.

Obviously I should have done something to celebrate, but I just wasn't up for anything. I feel like I've fallen into a giant black pit and I'm sad a lot recently. It really hit me hard this weekend. Some of the decisions I've recently made are coming back to bite me in the ass. And it sucks, and I don't know what to do.

This week also marks the 4th week since my OT school interview. The program said they would contact me within 3 to 4 weeks....and here we are. I haven't heard anything yet, but right now my emotions are all over the place. And, to make things worse, I burned the shit out of my hand this morning with my straightener plus I was late for work.

This shit hurts like you wouldn't believe
Super cute swimsuit!
Top: Victoria's Secret
Bottoms: JC Penny

This is gonna be a rough week.

Teach Me How To Diffie

Y'all, it's finally FRIDAY! This week has dragged on for far too long. And to make things better, it's payday.
And #backthatazzup time!
I've been obsessing over Jason Aldean's song 1994 since I heard it 2 weeks ago when I was in OKC for a bachelorette party...I can't get enough!

And in case you really want to know how to line dance to this song--yes there's a line dance--watch the video below! I love how he shakes his butt hah! And if you'd rather skip the lessons fast forward to the end where he finally does the whole thing to the music. Enjoy :)

The only problem with this weekend is that I don't get a 3 day weekend like everyone else; I have to work all day tomorrow. Yuck. But then Andrew & I are going to Houston to celebrate Memorial Day! Be back Monday y'all!

Don't forget to check out my new sponsor page!
yeah yeah, it's just a swap and doesn't cost you a thing, but sponsor is just easier to say....

One Minor Change

It's hump day y'all! I'm so ready for the weekend to be here, even if I don't have 3 days off like most normal working people. I wanted to point out a tiny detail that I changed just this morning on my blog.
Can you tell what it is??

That's right! I'm now taking sponsors! Well...technically only swaps since this little space of mine doesn't see too much traffic. And it only took me practically FOREVER to get it posted & live on my blog.

It's real easy, thanks to Passionfruit Ads :) and it's completely free with the promo code! All I ask is that you show my button on your site too.

Go check it out!

Weekend Shenannies

Happy Tuesday y'all!

Before I get in to my weekend recap, I just wanted to take a minute to think about Oklahoma. I know lots of people have been posting about it--and how to help. Remember how I went to Oklahoma last weekend for a bridal shower & bachelorette party? I was 30 minutes away from Moore. My friends are okay, but they were terrified for several hours waiting out the storms.

So my weekend was a whirlwind of fun! As soon as I got off work Thursday afternoon, I rushed home, packed my shit clothes and goodies up, and Megan & I hit the road. It took us 6 hours to get to Baton Rouge, I think we finally arrived around 11:30pm.

Friday morning was my cousin's graduation ceremony for her particular college--College of Art & Design--and it was a short, sweet ceremony. She received top honors & awards, and we won the award for most obnoxious family. Just kidding about that last part.

For once our graduation group didn't take up an entire row or more!
After the ceremony, there were tons of pictures to be taken.

Me, Madeline, and Megan! Yay cousins!
We got to tour the interior design building, and we even got to see Mike the Tiger! LSU's mascot for those of  you who are clueless....they keep a live tiger near the stadium. After touring around we had a late lunch at The Little Village--a quaint Italian place to eat that was perfect for our group!

The cousins & friends went out that night--I felt so OLD--and slept half of Saturday before driving to Lake Charles to spend the rest of the weekend with family & get in some crabbing and fishing! Unfortunately the windy weather was too harsh to do anything, so we just had a ball indoors before heading back home Sunday afternoon. And FYI, Lake Charles is only 4 hours from College Station, so the drive went by twice as fast as it did Thursday night.

Thankfully I had yesterday off work so I could recuperate from all that driving. In the last 2 weekends alone, I have driven 1,600+ miles. And that number doesn't even include driving in/around town during the week. And I have more pictures on my phone but I can't snag them right now....darn work.

How was your weekend??

P.S. did you hear that I WON Ricci's May Sponsor Giveaway??? Somebody pinch me I must be dreaming!

Baby I Don't Care

Time for another round of NSV's cause it's THURSDAY!

I have 3 victories to share with y'all this week! Yay!

I haven't been to the gym in roughly 2 weeks. I've just been super busy and I've been going out of town every weekend for the last several weekends. My body is just trying to keep up with everything!
And I don't feel guilty at all!
And that little voice inside my head saying "hey fatass, get motivated and go work out!" isn't around, so I don't feel bad for not going to the gym.

I haven't been logging my shit on MFP. [add me! Username: tall_natalie]
Obviously I've been all over the place (Nebraska, Houston, and Oklahoma, and Baton Rouge then Galveston coming up), and sporadically logging isn't good enough. And I'm okay with that!

I didn't pig out on the cookie cake that my sister bought for me on Monday to celebrate my birthday. As of last night, the cake was all gone. I had 2 pieces--one Monday night and another last night. Talk about self control!

What are some of your victories for the week??

P.S. Megan and I are leaving for Baton Rouge this afternoon as soon as I get off work. Yay college graduations and familia! But that means there won't be an update tomorrow. Womp womp.

My Amazeballs Birthday

This linkup came at the perfect time since my birthday was yesterday!

So first I'll share my most memorable birthday cause I know all of you want to hear my story!

My 16th birthday. Yes. Legal to drive. I had already done Driver's Ed and had my permit for months, so I was ready to go to the DMV and get my license that very day. And then the week before my birthday my mom announced we were going to travel to Louisiana for my cousin's high school graduation. Which meant that I wasn't gonna go to the DMV and I wasn't going to celebrate with my friends like I had wanted. And to make things worse, I had several people tease me that I was going to have a Sour Sixteen instead of a Sweet Sixteen because my birthday happened to fall on Friday the 13th that year.
But I was excited to see my family!

I sulked around all weekend long because I felt like everyone's attention was on the graduate instead of on me. I mean, you only turn 16 once! Then again, graduating from high school is big too. And, all the people who came over for the graduation party had no clue that I was supposed to be celebrating my birthday. It was awful.

And then Saturday afternoon, after all the partygoers had left, we FINALLY celebrated my birthday. My aunt had bought an exquisite cake--it really was gorgeous--and it may have been the best cake I've ever had. And it totally made up for the fact that everyone had neglected me and that I couldn't get my license on the day I turned 16. And I'm happy that I could share my birthday with my family & celebrate a graduation!

*Side vent: spring graduations almost always fall on my birthday. Last year when I graduated, my birthday was the next day & it also happened to be Mother's Day too.

So last night I went out for my 24th birthday!

Yes, I'm a princess with a pink feather boa.
Several people were there to celebrate with me, Mary & Richard, Megan, Andrew, and a few friends! We went to Cheddar's for dinner and I had a lot to drink. And the drinks were, and I quote, "strong as fuck!"

My sister even bought me a cookie cake!

This is the 3rd year in a row that I've had cookie cake for my birthday. That's some good shit.

I fail at blowing out candles. There were only 10 candles on the cake and I blew out maybe half of them. And I forgot to make a wish. We'll just say that I didn't want to spit on the cake.

Now, I know you're dying to know what all I got!

My sister gave me the Naked palette! So excited!
Andrew bought Season 2 of Dexter for me!
My mommy mailed me some new Sperry's! The Sperry's I have now (I'm wearing them today) are my birthday gift from 3 years ago. They've lasted a looong time but it's time for new!

I got a few other awesome gifts, and some of the sweetest cards. Though sometimes it doesn't actually feel like my birthday was yesterday and that I'm 24 instead of 23 and I had to renew my license this year. And I'm newly engaged. Kinda weird but cool.

And  huge thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday! It really was great :)
